What is this Broadspeed palace of miracles?

Would I have issues dealing with my tradeins or can I wave their prices at my local dealers?

Enjoy

  • Out of that list the 330d XDrive is the one I would go for, I don't have any experience of the Xdrive system but if they are still using the straight six diesel layout, I love the engine in my current

  • I'd recommend a 3 series estate. A good chassis and a punchy 4 pot diesel should keep you entertained enough. For 25k you'd be able to get a next to new one. Or if you want the extra 2 cylinders, a ca

Is it a bit like Drive-the-deal?

Sort of, but they do crazy BMW deals (see my linky above). Gives you and idea of what to aim for though

yeah 335d

0-60 quick enough to give passengers a facelift

Quick enough to embarrass several of the currently popular hyper hatches!

There are a couple of other brokers who are showing over £8K for the 335D too, so I imagine that you could probably manage a very decent discount if you were firm with a dealer and showed that you were ready to buy.

Check out the Lexus ISF supposed to be bulletproof

And current PCH deals are very good for such a beast of a motor!

I agree, the 335d sounds like an absolute gem of a car.

BMW dealer #2 today.

Again very pleasant, plenty time to talk.

This time got a 330d M-Sport to take home for lunch so I got to drive it on my usual roads.

Put my foot down and lolled. It's pretty brutal.

Autobox is sweet, didn't feel any urge to use the flappy paddles. This had the M suspension which actually wasn't too bad, road noise was a bit more than expected but possibly down to the suspension and conti tyres which were loud on the VRS.

Very nice place to be, and the car was nice driven sedately as well.

Got back and ran some figures, asked him what the 335d was like. Ran the figures on that and because of the BMW internal deals the 335d turned out £400 less than the 330d. That was on PCP.

Didn't get what I wanted for the trade ins but he was quite clear that there was the possibility of more money off but it had to come from his boss.

Will try the other local dealer later this week.

Looking up :) 335d is so quick for a diesel, actually it's so quick for a car!

Not that long ago sub 5sec 0-60 was supercar territory.

The thing is it doesn't just scrape under 5 second either. The time quoted is for 0-62 so you can knock at least 0.2 second off that time. I'd like to see a 0-100 time for it :) When I got my MB C350 CDi the car I wanted was the 330D and the car I dreamt about was the 335D.

Found some homebrew 0-60 figures on Pistonheads, 0-60 = 4.4s

That wouldn't surprise me. My M135 would struggle to do that (not sure it could) on a perfect day and a really really grippy surface :D

Are you looking at a new 330d/335d then, or nearly new? Just conscious of the title of this thread, and the value/budget selected :)

I think there was a monthly figure quoted somewhere and that sort of includes new cars. :)

I'm test driving a 335D on Wednesday - can't wait!

Look forward to your mini review :)

Well started out honestly as a 20k car thread. But On PCP I can get a well specced 335d Touring for £350 a month. Possibly cheaper.

Let me know how you get on and check if the car has adaptive suspension. Depending on what you read either the car is crap without it or it doesn't matter outside a track day.

So I thought I'd be sensible and think again about cars.

What can be more sensible than a Golf I thought. Mate of mine (with a 330d) said he was impressed with the GTD. So I took a peek.

FK me what a price. Not far off the price of a 330d xdrive, but no leather, smaller, 70hp down. £23k for a 14 plate at the local VW garage and the spec is nothing special.

£30k for a new moderately warm hatchback ?!?!?!

£36k if you spec it well.... (excluding any discount you can get)

Focus RS????

I'm planning my next car, I think it will either be an E92 M3 or a Lexus ISF, C63 AMG's have a head bolt issue that is putting me off.

Good luck with the hunt, I find that's the best part lol

Had a meetng with the bank to discuss mortgages in my own name today to let me move before I sell.

Probably put the kybosh on anything with large monthly payments.

However I have ressurected an old dream of mine. The Jaaag.

Noticed that Jag have 2yr warranty and £1500 contribution on used cars  and the Jaaag dealer near my has a couple of 3.0d XFs that I could just buy outright for about the same as a similarly aged GTD golf.

So no bmw but possibly a Jaaag for a couple of years (to be swiftly punted when the warranty runs out).

Looked at them last year. Very capable car just felt at 22 I was to young to have a Jaaaag. Hopefully in a few years I can convince my mind otherwise....

Rot can't be too young for a Jaaag. I've wanted an XJ since I was 14 and the Wing Commander gave a bunch of us cadets a lift in his.

Spoke to the Jaaag salesman and I'm going to take a look at a car this weekend, probably Sunday morning when it's a bit quieter.

Unfortunately the £1500 off is only when you take out £10k on finance, and I'm planning on a cash sale which I know they don't like coz there is no sweet kickback for them.
