Best diesel brand fuel economy

Featured Replies

We always find Asda fuel gives best MPG. BP Ultimate is also pretty good. Shell V Power is noticeably worse on MPG.

Used to fuel up at a 'local' Tesco garage since the cars purchase (Feb 2015). However, I was running near to the limit and the twitchy bum syndrome kicked in so pulled into a Shell garage and decided to bang some V Power in. God knows why just thought oh well ha ha.

Personally? Yeah I felt the car was a bit more responsive. It didn't exactly get my pulse racing but it just felt, well, smoother and the CR is as smooth as butter. Infact, it seemed much quitier, especially in the low rev ranges and I did wonder at the time was it just purely placebo but after filling up a few times now, I think there's an improvement, if even only marginal.

I can't see the point in adding Millers though with V Power. I thought that's the whole point as it already has additives. What am I missing exactly?

I'm actually in the process of doing a brim to brim calculation to see what I'm getting out of it. I reckon, taking into consideration my driving style ect a 2-3 Mpg improvement but lets see. Yes, it's more expensive and I could quite easily go back to Tesco's. However, when you tell yourself it's (hopefully I might add) giving the engine a good clean then I say go for V Power.

Oh, I was asked when fuelling up once at the ahem 'local' Tesco 'Why are you fuelling up a VRS mate with that *****?, a car like that deserves better!'

Probably pure coincidence but that was my last fill up on standard.

I have now given V-Power Nitro+ Diesel a go and the main difference I have noticed is less smoke out the back.  There was an increase in MPG to but I am still trying to establish if it's the fuel or other factors.  On my 3rd tank of the stuff at the moment and will maybe use it for a couple more before I work out the MPG on that fuel.  New best MPG on a tank was with V-Power with a return of 71.3mpg calculated from miles done and fuel put in.  Back down to ~68mpg now with the same fuel but temperatures are dropping.  Won't be long before we are on winter diesel again and a further drop in mpg.

My question referred to help keeping system clean rather than mpg
