Help! "Check left reversing light" and "Check left brake light" message but all lights working

Featured Replies

Hello Briskodians,

My 61 VrS Estate has decided to tell me that I need to check the rear lights(reversing and brakes), accompanied by a bulb warning on the the dashboard, but all lights are working. I recently had the right rear cluster changed (by a dealer), but the warning is for the left. Ive also recently replaced the rear wiper motor. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

What was the reason for having to change the rear light cluster, was it water ingress?

Same goes for the rear wiper motor, had this seized?

Water getting into the electrics at the rear of the car can play havoc.

Do you have Maxidot, is it making specific reference to the brake and reverse lights?

have a good look in the dark, as I had this and couldn't find it but as there are 3 bulbs it can be hard to spot the non working one.

Three bulbs? There are more than that.

Per side:

1x brake / tail (hatchback - 21W/4W, estate 21W)

2x tail (W5W)

1x fog / tail (hatchback - 21W/4W, estate 21W)

1x reverse

1x indicator

Plus the number plate lights.

Thanks guys, Yes I took the whole light array out on both sides and all bulbs are working. The wiper motor had just given up but not due to water ingress (I believe its a common fault looking through the threads). The right hand light cluster was cracked and I was tired of looking at it. A bit of a coincidence that this light came on just after the dealer changed the cluster, maybe I'll just give them a bell. Was hoping it was a common fault.

Hello guys i have 2007 octavia vrs

My rear tail lights on my right hand side

Are not working

The 2x single tail lights seems not to work

All my lights work so I changed the bulbs from

My left side to my right and still no luck

Is it the fuse? If it was the fuse im sure my lights wouldn't work

I would like help asap please

As i have recently been pulled over by the police and warned,so i would like to repair before i drive and i hope i can fix tomorrow =(

My break/tail light work

Just the 2x single tail light isn't working

Please Help

The two smaller W5W bulbs are not part of the main bulb holder, they are wired separately direct from the wiring loom.

Is the front side light working? I'm not sure how these are fused. I think I've read the front and back are fused together so if the front side light is working on the same side you can rule out the fuse.
