Top up washer fluid!

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

recently I get in problem with Top up washer fluid! indication on my MAXI DOT screen on my Octavia III.

Although I have full tank of washer fluid, I still have this annoying message on screen with exclamation sing in triangle constantly showing.

Does anyone had same issue?

Check for other control messages, there may be something else wrong.

Does it still come up with top up washer fluid when you start the car?

Sounds like a duff sensor?

@vtec Already checked that. There is only one error and that is this about washer fluid. And yes, it is active when I start the car.

What is also interesting is that, the exclamation sign stay active for few days and then suddenly disappear.

After few days it shows up again.

Thanks.

Sounds like a dealer trip for an ECU reflash or new sensor.

I know with my old cars I can just disconnect the battery for a little while to reset warnings. Is that a bad idea on these?

Have you ever topped up using either ionised or distilled water?

@hobbie2k I was five times at dealer service in last three months to do ECU reflash. Every time they told me they updated firmware, and every time after that I get this same message. So, I am a little bit frustrated with them.

Also, I demanded from them to check the sensor and replace it but they won't to listen, although the car is under warranty. This is the only Skoda dealer in my town and I am stuck with them :(

I can reset warnings on my own using car menu options (Reset to factory), but that's not solution. I have done this several times and short after that the same message appear again.

@Minimoke No, never. I will try that ASAP. Thanks for advice.

NOTE: In this two days, I noticed that this message won't popup if the outside temperature is above 10°C.

Also, when I start the car for the first time in the morning, if the outside temp is lower then 4°C, I have always got the "CAUTION: Danger icy road." message on MAXI DOT. I noticed that, since I get in problem with the washer fluid message, I no longer getting the "Danger icy road." message, instead that, now I get the "Top up washer fluid message."

Thanks in advance.

What screenwash are you using....looks terribly blue?

I experienced trouble with two more recent VAG cars with blocked fan jets which I could only attribute to using cheap garage bought washer fluid......they wouldnt honour a warranty replacement as it was clear I hadnt been using VAG approved fluid.

I thought it was all rollocks at the time and cut up a bit rough about it but when I found out it was only £4/litre or so for up to minus 70 degree c cold protection i thought id give it a go.....its all I use now even in my company car.

Cars with headlamp washers I honestly dont think its worth codsing about with cheap washer fluid as if you get one of those fail its quite a bit more involved to repair...particularly if the high pressure pumps pack up.

Dealers may honour a warranty fix but they "might" blame the washer fluid and try to refuse.....I guess technically speaking they could well try citing use of non OEM fluid as the cause of the failure....a little ridiculous I know but likely true.
