Skoda Scout Lease Deal

Featured Replies

Noticed Simpsons had been advertising a business lease which has now changed to a personal one - £2090 deposit and £149 inc vat x 23 months based on 8000 pa (although all Skoda dealers are offering this deal).

Old school so have always owned my cars but this one is pretty convincing considering the uncertainty regarding resale value in the short/medium term on VW group cars.

I do 14-16k pa - but even at the extra mileage charge (£0.072 x14000 = £1008) + £2090 + £3427 = £6525 total or £3262 per year (£270.00 per per month) this seems like a good deal to me.

Local dealer had done a couple of deals over the weekend for exactly this offer.

Orders placed by end March and must register by 1st June .2016 - so they suggested don't leave placing an order after mid March to guarantee the deal.

Any thoughts/comments on this?

Thanks,

Andy

Seems like the lease offer has been running for a while with only minor differences in overall cost or mileage limits. I leased a Scout through Simpsons...ordered in late March 2015 and took delivery mid July 2015. It was advertised as £1,200 deposit, 23x£199 monthly payments for annual mileage of 10k.

It was cheaper per mile to build in the additional mileage I do into the lease than pay a penalty charge at the end. The dealer can adjust the quote for comparison to suit your circumstances.

Simpsons do free metallic paint upgrade and road tax is included as VWFS retain the car's V5C. Any other options will need paying for over your lease unfortunately. There are no hidden fees but you will struggle to get any dealer freebies. I did get mine delivered to York from Colne for free though.

My PCH deal is for 15K pa over 2 years with £1638 dep and 23x £268 but includes full maintenance which I reckon is a better deal (without maintenance its £243).

That maintenance deal looks poor vfm - you will pay £575 over 23 months but only need a service at 12 months before handing back - cost approx £150.

Or have I missed something.

Guess it means tyres etc - still sounds expensive.

A decent set of tyres- Michelins for example will be £400 or there about and I'm likely to do at least the 30k and possibly stray into excess mileage a little bit (10p+vat per mile). Brake pads- might need them, might not. When I took it out, I wasn't sure- this is my first foray into PCH-land, but it looks to me like I just about break even or win a little bit if it needs brakes (although I tend not to go through brakes very quickly). I'll be better equipped to judge next time.

It still looks better than the deal at the top of the thread though

If you go over the contract mileage allowance I think there is a further excess mileage charge for the maintenance (if you took it out) as well as for the car. There was when I looked into it for my car anyway.

I've had my Scout for 4 weeks now, paid £1000 deposit inc Vat and just £166.80 inc Vat per month. Couldn't say no for that price

The cost per mile I quoted includes the maintenance.

What annual mileage was that for?

Where from?

On the last post I collated all the Scout deals people had taken...

"So 12 months on and the Scout lease (PCH) deals have crept up.

1) Blue Chilli Cars was 9+23 @ £160 / month (10,000 miles) so basically £213 per month.

2) Ling Cars is 3+35 @ £244 / month (10,000 miles) which equates to £258 per month.

3) Simpsons Skoda are £149 / month (only 8,000 miles) with a £2090 deposit, over the same term that’s £229 per month.

4) Contract Leasing & Hire are £186 / month (10,000 miles) with £1,117 down which is £225 per month.

5) Freedom Vehicle Contracts are £1,501 down and £166.79 per month (10,000 miles) so £222 per month.

None of which are anywhere as good as the OP's deal @ £189 per month (£1,200 down, 23x £145 = £189 / month)."

So unfortunately as you can see the Skoda deal has been around for a while (No. 3 above) and isn't currently the most competitive.

Where from?

Park Vehicle Contracts. They are part of Johnsons group who have VW and Skoda dealers in the Midlands. Even got free trailer delivery to Liverpool so arrived with 4 miles on the clock! Mine was ordered 1st Dec and the deal ran till 31st Dec but I've still seen similar deals around. Try Freedom Contracts, they have some good deals

I also assume it was a 2 year PCH? You already mentioned it was 8,000 miles per year.

I get that to:

6) Park Vehicle Contracts are £1,000 down and £166.80 per month (8,000 miles) so £202 per month.

I've just realised this is a business contract though? These are often cheaper than personal contracts, even with the VAT...

Yeah it's Personal contract hire. They had the same price for business and personal. Best deal I can see today is freedom contracts. They are £1050 down, £175 per month. All inc vat. But they charge a £240 fee. I didn't pay any fees at all. So approx £221 per month averaged out. Park Vehicles were great to deal with and may well price match and deal. My wife is currently ordering a VW Touran from them also, as they were the cheapest on the deal she wanted.

Anyone ordered a Scout recently?

The deal from Park Vehicle Contracts has crept up slightly...

6) Park Vehicle Contracts are £1,044 down and £174 per month (8,000 miles) so £210 per month.

Close to ordering now if anyone has seen any better deals?

Pretty sure you'll struggle to get near to that price. Others are similar but then hit you with a document fee of around £200.

Well, just done the deal, Skoda (VW Finance) have approved my finance application and the car is secured, being built week 11 (next week).

Luckily the car was already allocated a week 11 build date but without a customer. It now has my name next to it  :sun:

150bhp, manual, no options. Moon white metallic (free) and the black interior, 8,000 miles per year.

£2,548.66 deposit, 23x £100 per month = £4,848.66 over 24 months = £202 per month.

I spoke with pretty much every broker out there and all major UK Skoda dealers direct. This was as cheap as I could get it so I'm pretty happy with the deal.

After always buying and owning my cars it is time to see what a PCH is really like!
