Fabia vrs no power

Featured Replies

Hi all i have a mk1 fabia vrs 2005. I was on the dual carriage way and suddenly speed dropped feels like a pipe popped off. But i cant seen to find any hoses off. I plugged it on vcds and code 17964/charge pressure control. Has anyone got any ideas?

Have you had a good look underneath? if not check intercooler pipe work, from intercooler to turbo.

whats there smoke? does it drive now? or is it in limp mode?

That code would suggest its a boost leak

 - check your vacuum pipe to the actuator and check the N75 vacuum box ontop of the strut nr coolant tank.

Yes mate i have been at my friends garage. The only thing i spotted was the pipe that come from turbo had a minor slit so i replaced it. After that its still same. I tried mr muscle by opening the egr flexi and spraying it through and reset the light via vcds code had poped up imidiately so i took it for a drive and it was pulling well but when i go up the hill it goes in to limp mode and engine light appears.

It sounds like it's over boosting, at least the turbo hasn't popped.

I only had the turbo fitted 3 weeks ago and stage 2 remap at 2.0bar should that be correct?

A standard turbo can't run 2 bar safely, what turbo is it?

Its a hybrid garret turbo. I have a airtec front mount intercooler, miltek, panel filter, de cat, 160pd intake

What does Google say for the fault number?

Do you have an uprated map sensor?

On google it says a vacuum leak or sticky turbo veins. And no its a standard map sensor.

If you have vcds then take a log of group 11, on wide open throttle, in the engine control section and post up the results here. I expect 2bar is maxing out your standard map sensor and making the ecu misbehave.

Alternatively take it back to the mapper and have them look at it. If its only been 3 weeks then they should have a look

You need to fit a 4 bar map sensor, you have no headroom at all with the 3 bar sensor.

I find it strange that somebody has mapped it with that kind of boost and not realised that the MAP sensor will be over range

It's caused by confusion, they probably forgot that they have to add 1.0 bar ATM pressure to the 2.0 bar of boost which is why the standard sensor has no headroom, it's a bit of a beginners mistake though I'll grant you that.

Exactly, but it kind of gives it away when the sensor is reading over a Bar with the engine off

Thanks i will do tomarrow after work. Thanks guys the starge thing is out of the blue its slugish then after it gets warmed up it pulls really well but only does it when it wants to. Can it be the turbo then? Or sensor? Thanks

Start by replacing the MAP sensor first, then at least you can run some logs and see where to go next.
