Fabia vrs engine upgrade to 150 spec

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can someone tell me if I would be best looking for a second hand pd150 engine and turbo or what I would need to get my Tdi engine up to the same spec?

I know I need the Pd150 turbo, and injectors etc

If a complete engine is the way to go then is it a swap engine mounts and bolt straight in?

My heads kinda spinning on this. And up here theres not too many folk to ask!!

Hope all are well.

Might be worth posting in he fabia section. What's your reason for wanting a pd150 engine?

Is it purely for power.

Hi stevo,

Yes, for power but instead of having Pd130 at its limits I figured a sensibly tuned Pd150 would be better.

I was putting my turbo in to be rebuilt but decided against when I saw Pd150 turbo handle more power better.

I will have a chat in the fabia section and see what the crack is.

Thanks bud

All you really need is a pd150 turbo and then get it remapped. The injectors in the pd130 are good for 230hp+. You'll ideally need a better intercooler to handle more ppower. The standard one is alright for 170hp but wouldnt want to push much more than that

Be careful when making statements about power on standard injectors! Touchy subject at the moment................................:)

Yeah so i have been reading :p

Thats why i stuck to a fairly conservative figure haha

A pd150 will handle 180-190bhp but it's advised to fit a bigger intercooler. As stated injectors aren't needed unless going above 230bhp or so.

Don't forget about the clutch. Standard clutches tend to start slippingover 300lb of torque. I know some companies do clutch friendly re-maps. Something to keep in mind. Also save some cash for stopping power. :)

Thanks very much for the input fella's, Its cleared a few things up for me.  Appreciate the advice.

I guess its just a Tdi at the end of the day!  and just a reliable 180bhp will do me fine.  It was just I have 121k on my engine so was thinking of getting a second hand 150 lump ready.

Clutch and flywheel have been done a few k ago its just the damn kkk (?) turbo im waiting to go boom as im running about 150-160bhp at the mo.

Anyway, thanks again.

Oh, and see that £99 intercoolers on ebay......they much good???  Seems a bit too good to be true!!

The standard engine is rock solid unless you shove a 2260 up it on standard injectors, just change the oil regularly and stop being a drama queen.

Not really, there better than the standard but it's worth buying a darkside seat sport intercooler or another one from a well known company.

I would tune up the PD130, I wouldn't get rid of that to put in the dreaded 150 complete with chocolate cams.

Drama queen :) love it. Here you dont know my wife, she says if one more thing go's wrong its getting scrapped!! I had to fake the exhaust blowing to get a stainless set up lol

Thanks for all the replies, its appreciated!!

somthing people havnt mentiond are PD150 head bolts, they are stronger than the PD130 ones and are worth doing if you plan on pushing up the power, they are faily cheap around £30 and easy enough to change if you have a good torque wrench or a friendly garage.

Ok, cheers hutch.

A guy is giving me a quote o turning my turbo into a hybrid, will pd150 internals fit in the housing on the fabia vrs?? Or should i just source a pd150 turbo?

Simply a PD150 turbo and remap will probably net you your 180BHP. Keep the torque a little low in the 2-3K rev range to reduce the risk of drivetrain issues like knackered clutch.

If looking at bolt-on hybrids, maybe chat to XMAN750 and Faboka VRS

That's perfect vindaloo!

Just a sensible 180bhp. That's all I want.

Well that's a nice start to joining BriskSkoda, i want to say thank you to all you guys for taking the time to reply. I feel welcome :)

Thanks

That said, it will be useless if you can't put it on the road.

Power is nothing without control. Top modificiation IMO is slightly lowered on lowered springs, doesn't have to be coilovers, just not the "stock" Fabia or vRS setup. Transforms the car and you'll get more speed in corners with that than increasing power as you won't have the confidence to use it anyway !

Oh and console bushes etc, they will be knackered and maybe a few other suspension parts also.

Also worth ensuring your braking is good too. Not a lot to add to the costs but worthwhile if you are going for extra power.
