Who cares how high it revs? Al that means is that you've got to rev it to buggery to get your 115bhp, where a vRS will have delivered it's full 130bhp and be well into delivering its 130bhp in the next gear by the time you get there.

Would hardly call going between 4k and 6k "revving it to buggery" - and it's fairly easy to keep it in this zone, and also it means you spend less time messing about changing gears (and when the clutch is disengaged, there is no power going to the wheels, whether the engine is generating 130bhp or not).

Also, for how much of the rev range does the vRS produces 130bhp? After all, that's the peak figure...

I would agree that the vRS will be quicker - as one would hope from the performance model - but to say the 2.0 wouldn't "see where it went" is just simply wrong. :)

Rob, this thread is about a modded Octy RS or a standard 2.0 Fabia estate. I reckon with a modded RS I could fairly easilly lose a Fabia (whatever sort). :D

You'd have to use "out-of-gear" acceleration though, as the Fabia has you beat in-gear and in the real world ;)

Yeah but L-Y-K bought 2.0 Fabia :P

The Octy is so big, thats why I don't like it, but it is true that it is also faster than the 2.0 Fyrby

I know, because I have driven both cars

Choice seems to be made so enjoy.Took me to the age of 37 to hanker after a combi;)

For a 17 year old Fabia - and I would say get a lower power version and get your own insurance.

Then when you have 2 years NCD get something better.

Even when I was 21 (which was some time ago :( ) I would have not trusted myself with a car which had the power of the Octy VRS. Surely it's better to build your driving skills up on a lower powered car and build up.

But hey, it's your decision. Enjoy it, whatever you get.

My physics teacher would have wept at that comment. The car with the lowest Cd would win that particular race...

wouldn't the height of the cliff make a difference though? If they were only reaching speeds of say, 40mph, how much of an effect would drag have?

You always doubt anything I say so this comes as no surprise.

Care to elaborate? I find both your comments and your tone quite insulting!

I have to agree though, whilst the Octy vRS would have been a lot more fun it posed too much of a threat to both your wallet and your license...

I don't need to elaborate. The fact that whenever a 2 litre comes up you seem to be stubborn to the fact that the vRS has 310Nm of torque as standard, but totally disregard the mere 15bhp difference plus the great weight difference AND the rev range difference between the two, and then we end up arguing like this.

With the way YOU put your point across (which doesn't offend me mind you), you'll be seeing a lot of things and hearing alot of things from me that seem 'insulting'. I don't think I've said anything to insult you, I only laid out facts from the past. Pretty woosy to feel insulted by my comments don't you think?

Can someone explain how a Fabia RS got into this thread?

This is supposed to be about a 2l Fabia estate and an Octavia RS.

If people don't read the posts properly I not suprised miscommunication happens.

Leon is getting the 2l Fabia...a wise choice considering his age and insurance ramifications.

what facts are those which you claim to have laid out? i think you'll that my usual comments regarding the fabia vRS and diesels in general are less than positive...i'm pretty sure that the only time i've passed comment on a 2.0 is when you claimed that a Z4 couldn't keep up...was the way i put my point across anything other than staright to the point?

of course i wasn't offended by your comments. i just found it kinda hypocrtical that you, the most over sensitive, self righteous person i've ever stumbled across saw fit to publicaly imply that i'm constantly badmouthing your precious car...

Time to lock this before it gets more out of hand.

Disappointed as this WAS a good thread but personal feelings have deemed it impossible to keep this on topic and non abussive.

I will not mention names...but will say the responses I have seen are typical and consistant.
