ACC deactivated no camera view

Featured Replies

Whilst driving home tonight it started snowing. I was driving with the ACC set, suddenly orange warning and message saying ACC deactivated because the camera can't see. Took me by surprise but logical. A another Simply Clever feature

AFAIK the ACC doesn't use the camera, it uses radar. That can indeed get covered by snow but are you sure it wasn't lane assist that deactivated because of no camera view?

Sounds about right to me. If the view is obscured it'll just shut the system down completely for safety reasons.

It'll probably be a similar situation if snow builds up on the grille where the front assist radar is positioned.

Just checked the manual and it mentions that the radar sensor can get covered in snow and ACC can't operate - that must have been what happened ☺

Yeah that's happened to me a couple of times this winter. It's just the sensor on the centre of the grill getting snowed up. Nothing to worry about but a bit unnerving the first time it happens.

Has anyone else thought of installing a 12 volt +80 °C PTC-heater in the radar unit enclosure? With a flick of the switch inside the cabin, it might help when the conditions are disabling the ACC.

Not just the snow though, mine deactivated on a stretch of the m6 where it was single lane with concrete barriers either side, acc was going a bit nuts then deactivated until i was out of it lol

If his ACC goes up to 210kph, both the radar and camera will be used.
