OK, no replies so to simplify the Q.

Do you have Map Version V13.1 8348 loaded on your Columbus 510.

If yes, which UK or EU VW dealer did you buy it from. Or which official VW website did you download it from.

If a new car did it come pre loaded.

In response to your post: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/393420-columbus-sat-nav/#entry4570612

Rather than polluting another thread with discussions of official/unofficial versions I'm thought it best to keep it in one place.

I have commented about this on many forums and nobody has yet provided firm proof of 8348 on an official DVD.

Nor is there any suggestion apart from your own suspicions that it's not an official release.

There appears to be many unofficial downloads which are being exploited on auction sites and sold as V13.

Correct, there are many illegal ways to source the 8348 maps. This is also true for earlier versions so apart from inadvertently advertising the fact, it adds nothing to prove that 8348 are unofficial in any way.

Please also note I informed RT of the error on their site which encouraged them to change the last 5 CY boxes.

Looking at the notes to the right hand side, it possible that 8316/8317 were released together but at least the Eastern maps had issues and a new release pair 8348/8350 were created. Until it's proven that one or more versions of the maps aren't created by VAG/NavTeq there is no reason to remove them.

My OEM VW V13 DVD is 8316.

Your OEM version might not be as official as you believe.

It's entirely possible that 8316/8317 went into production but due to the Eastern map issues the 8348/8350 versions were then produced as a replacement. Any copies of the 8316/8317 may have then scheduled for destruction but a number of them went missing along the way to be resold to unsuspecting buyers such as yourself. This would certainly help explain the low price and quality of the product you received as well as the fact there are two very closely related map editions available.

This is obviously something you feel strongly about given the number of times you've brought it up but c'mon, where do you honestly think the 8348 maps have come from if not VAG/NavTeq!? Why would anyone create an unofficial maps version when the official versions are trivial to copy?

That's pretty much what I sent via PM but, which looking at the sent PM, they have not bothered reading as well as possibly what Rusty has PMd in the post which Don admitted to not bothering to read in the other post.

I doubt it will be accepted as they seem certain there can be absolutely nothing untoward about their DVD.... Even though it wasn't bought from an official source and was priced ridiculously low.

So as to add to what had been said above and relating to what I said about my PM..... Here is the PM I sent on the 17th March but which hasn't even been read.......

"So as to keep the "how to" thread clear.... After what you have now also said about your DVD and that you haven't actually bought it from VW but from a third party seller. I really have to say that in my opinion what you have purchased is very likely to be a stolen DVD.

Let's just consider the facts here..... The v13/2016 map DVD in question was only a couple of months into its release when you purchased it. It was still sealed and the retail value was nearly double that of what you paid. Also bear in mind that the previous v12/2015 map DVD is also still available and at a retail price of approx £20-30 more than you paid plus delivery from various outlets. If the seller had a legitimate reason to have the DVD but not require it why would they sell it for so little and make such a huge loss themselves over what they must have paid for it from VW?

If you still believe that your DVD is truly and fully legitimate, and by that I mean it is not stolen property etc.... Then I feel you are being rather gullible knowing all of these details and the price you paid for it.

On a similar note I myself bought a camera bag a couple of years ago from eBay. It was brand new with all tags still attached and had an RRP of approx £100 at the time but it cost me just under £30 delivered. Now did I think it was totally legit? Or did I expect to either not receive anything, receive a fake item or receive an original item that had been stolen from somewhere or other? Well I'll tell you I thought it was going to be one of the last three. It did indeed turn up though after a couple of days and I've used it ever since and in my opinion it was the latter of the three options in that it had obviously been shoplifted from a camera store like Jessops etc... And then sold at very much lower price than it should have been.

What I'm trying to get at is after all the things you have posted about other people's map discs etc.... And that they should always get a legit disc from VW and not but an eBay copy etc... (Both in the thread and via PM on here and also in the thread on volkswagenforum.co.uk) you yourself have bought what would very much appear to be a stolen disc and IMHO shouldn't really be trying to take any moral high ground with other people on that particular issue.

Anyway with regard your other thread..... hopefully one of the very few who managed to get a new Superb II with v13 maps will join Brisky and read your request thread for their map data or someone who had purchased a DVD at a later date will pop up.

Just out of interest I checked the dbinfo.txt file from the DVD that I had burned to compare to the one on your DVD and it is exactly the same except for "VersionNumber" reading as 8348 for all four marques. All the other part numbers and system names were identical."
