The picture that i got from Skoda didnt have a gasket on (same picture as Lee put on here) but the one in the Haynes Manual has (same picture Torbo put on here), i spoke to Skoda yesterday and they said they werent sure if there was or wasnt and that i would have to order the whole strainer unit to find out and that is £78....... quite alot for a gasket as that is all i need as the strainer unit is clean. I have a clearance of 0.09 mm and it says to fit one unless the clearance is at a maximum of 0.13mm

Yes it is definitely a red picture of an oil can with a rip falling from it.

Do i just turn the engine on an get it to 1500rpm but disconnect the wire from the sensor an put a volt meter on it?

Yet again, thank you for all your help.

Evap valve/sensor is on the left of the engine near the water expansion tank, it's a kind of disc attached to a couple of pipes. Easy as pie to replace. That being said, it being broken won't cause mu

That's what I'm expecting to be the case, yes. Will try on my Polo sometime today, but juggling too much to know exactly when.

I just tried the pressure switch measurement.  12V on the (unplugged) connector with just engine idling. No need to rev it above 1500.

Was thinking that earlier. And at only a couple of quid, its not like id be losing out on too much.

I will order some anyway so ive got it and can try it.

Thank you

I really wouldn't fit a gasket if there wasn't one there already. I have taken loads of these engines apart and never once seen a gasket there. Besides, that paper may well be far too thick and you will end up with too much endfloat on the pump gears. The ones they used at the factory will be specific thicknesses to precisely alter the endfloat.

I have never seen any gaskets under the gears/teeth in oil pumps. If you put tasked on, you will loose pressure. But always check that i turn light around.

Well, i have taken the oil pump apart, gears an strainer assembly and cover are in good condition so i cleaned every component thoroughly, blown it all through with an airline, oiled it all and put it back together (without a gasket), changed my expansion tank and unwrapped the sensor for the expansion tank that the previous owner taped up, all connected now, still got the engine management light on but not too fussed about that right now as ive had the codes read again and it just saying lambda sensor and evap emissions. So far the car has had a little run (about 20 miles) just so i can get used to the car and how it runs as this is my first car. Oil light has stayed off (touch wood) and for peace of mind, i have once again changed the oil pressure sensor just to make sure. Ive got a volt meter at my parents house so will run up tomorrow and test the volts coming throught the wiring just to make sure aswell that im getting  what i should be.

I am slowly getting this car sorted.

Thank you for all your help everybody.

Good work!
