Anyone changed dampers on an S3 ?

Featured Replies

Someone fitted koni actives, do a search and you should find it

Yes, I have fitted Koni Special Actives to my Sportline (no DCC)) and they have eliminated the floatiness. The car corners much better now , particularly on bumpy roads. Certainly recommend getting these.

Just to confirm John the part numbers

8245-1387 and 8750-1123 ?

Thanks

The rear shocks are 8245-1387, but I believe the fronts are 8745-1388

I got mine from Europerformance.co.uk last September, but they seem to have gone out of business!

Have you tried Larkspeed?

Hi mate. Is yours an estate or saloon. I have had koni Fsd’s on other cars and they have been brilliant. My wife Fiat 500x cross plus has them as standard but this is a collaboration with fiat so they look standard but have the fsd internals. I believe the koni specials are the fsd’s just renamed so I’m gonna go for a set after the lockdown ends. I presume it rides better on bumpy surfaces too ?

Judging from the YouTube video it looks like a fairly easy option.

Mine is the saloon. I think you are correct that the Koni Special Actives are the new FSDs. The car does indeed ride better on bumpy surfaces.

Does anyone have a link for the Bilstiens? The links in the original post don't work, and I can't find anywhere online that will do them for anywhere near £350, prices are £600+

The Koni Actives appear to be the best value at around £500.

I'm comparing my options at the minute, I really want to remove the bounce and floating that the car has, but I'm not interested in lowering. Fitting shocks seems like the perfect solution, if a little costly.

I was reading about the bilsteins, and there was a comment on the advert which said that under a certain condition, they were slightly softer than the standard damper.

It was in bold writing. I will try and find the advert for you. it completely put me off them.

Given the price of the Bilsteins, I've edging towards the Koni's anyway. Just can't decide whether or not to pull the trigger. I reckon including fitting, total cost will be about £650.

Think how much you've saved during lockdown - be a devil!!!!
