SatNav last destinations postcodes since update (Nov 15)

Featured Replies

Bit of a strange niggle this, but I wondered if anyone else has noticed/been infuriated by it too:

ever since I downloaded and updated the maps (the Nov 15 release) I've noticed that the 'last destinations' postcodes are not retained, forcing me to re-input the postcode everytime. (I refuse to save my work and home - a 3 hour commute - into the memory as I'm a bit security OCD like that). It used to be that selecting a previous destination from the last destinations menu would display the full address, including postcode. But now all that comes up is the town, not the street or postcode.

Is there a fix? Am I missing something?

Other than that the SatNav is pretty good, very intuitive although it does rather tend to be optimistic on my ETA and the 'live' traffic information is normally about half an hour late to the party...

Not sure.m would need to check ours but I'm pretty sure it stores them as I have only entered postcodes addresses and used them a few times from the last destination option.

For your ocd element.. Maybe save the addresses but say 1/4 of a mile from the location on the route.?

Not a bad idea on the security idea - but that's still a work around and I'd like the unit to remember the full detail of the last, say 4 or 5, journeys at least!

Save them as a destination but under a pseudonym.  E.g. your home could be "Tom's house".

As a side note, both our cars have nav and the Ford sync system is much better IMO for routing and traffic information.  The Skoda system has got us into trouble on more than one occasion.

Reading my Top Gear magazine this morning, it's a complaint the reviewers have of the Nav system in a VW Golf R too - I assume it'll be pretty much the same unit and certainly the same system software.

It's a perfectly decent system and I can live with the slightly erratic routing and traffic info, especially as my car cost about £25,000 less than a Golf R...

What system do you have? It's not easy to find out how to enter postcodes on my Amundsen and the salesman had to show me the trick.

Ive got a MY16 Spaceback which i think its the Amundsen. Its the one with the dab radio and touch screen. Be good to know what the trick is :)

If it is that system, when you go to enter destination, tap the box to type in the street name or town: when the screen with the keyboard displays look in the bottom left, there should be a button marked 'Pstd' (or similar). Press that and presto! Postcode input.

Be warned its fiddly, you'll have to flick between alpha and numeric keyboards and you must input the space in the UK postcode.

Try that?

I struggled with the MY16 Amundsen / Seat Media plus too. It's a retrograde step IMHO, both in visuals and functionality, compared with the previius RNS315.
