Direct HU upgrade without hassle?

Featured Replies

Hi!

Long time reader, first time posting here.

I have a 07 superb elegance with factory fitted mdf1 head unit and an amp in the trunk area. My question is:

Is there any aftermarket head unit, that would fit 100% plug&play? I really want to throw out the mdf1 for various reasons, but all the hu's i've seen got all different plugs and wires and such. As you can probably tell, i'm not a techie-type of guy, i don't do well with adaptors and cutting wires and tinkering. Is there any head unit that will just fit right away, pop the old one out and the new one in?

Cheers!

If it's the same as mk5 golf, I can confirm that the Kenwood DNX531VBT was a direct fit and plug in for my 07 Octavia if that helps.

I'm not sure if any aftermarket hu works with the stock amplifier.

I could be wrong but I'm sure some people have resorted to putting parts of the original hu in a tupperware box to turn the stock amp on!

This would physically fit directly in, but I think you'd still need an ISO adapter to swap the switched and permanent live over.  I don't know if it would drive the amp either.

Might be worth contacting the company to see what they can offer.

If you need an ISO adapter, they are only cheap.
