Hi Pabs,

Sorry not an expert at all. I went for the Columbus MIB 2 unit and this way worked for me.

May be a different patch file for the Amundsen/Bolero unit

I assume MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4256_1_AIO_MU1440_20230504 is either the all-in-one firmware for native Columbus MIB2.5 SKoda units (5650350xx) or or for conversion of Columbus MIB2 units (3V00350xx) to Columbus MIB2.5. I will have it downloaded and tested when I have some free time and provide you with details.

Hello, can someone help me? I have a Škoda Octavia 2014, VIN TMBJJ9NEXE*******. I believe I have an Amundsen MIB1 system and a display that is neither the smallest nor the largest, but the medium size. I do not have CarPlay, but I would like to have it.

Can someone tell me whether it is necessary to replace the main head unit in the glovebox, and which part numbers / unit versions I should look for? Also, would I need to replace the display if I want a larger one than the current medium-sized screen?

If possible, I would appreciate a brief explanation of what display sizes were available for this model year of the Octavia.

Finally, is there any cheaper or simpler solution to get CarPlay, or is replacing the head unit and display the only option?

Thank you in advance. Photo 1 is my display and photo 2 is diplay they want.MIB2.jpg

I have the same part number: 5E0035045C

@pab567 I can't PM you as not enough posts yet, are you able to PM me for VIN as i'm keen to get carplay into the car and OEM seems like a better bet than the aftermarket Aliexpress units.

Thanks!

Thanks @pab567 - I'm very happy with the MIB2 upgrade to my MIB-high columbus 2013 Octavia. All installed, and nice to pick up the new features like traffic, WLAN and of course Android and Carplay.

@xlot thank you very much for your information )

Hi all, hope someone here can help with advice.
Currently fitted to my 2016 (66) Octavia VRS, I have the original Columbus system - headunit 3V0 035 020 C and screen 5E0 919 606.

Am I correct that my upgrade options are:-

  1. Keep my headunit and swap to screen 5E0 919 605M - apart from visual are there any advantages to this?

    1. I believe this is a straight swap with no coding or trim modification needed

    2. Only possible issue is to get one with the lower trim.

  2. Update firmware on my headunit to make it MIB2.5 and swap to screen 5E0 919 606 D - larger screen and may unlock performance dials, are there any other advantages?

    1. Can my headunit be updated to MIB2.5? How reliable and safe is the update process?

    2. Would this need any coding, e.g. component protection, after updating the firmware?

    3. I believe some trim would need to replaced for a good fit.

  3. Upgrade both headunit and screen to 565 035 0xx and 5E0 919 606 D

    1. Most expensive option so may struggle to get funds approved, but are there any signifiv=cant benefits over the previous options?

All advice appreciated and if you are selling any of the above parts let me know.

Thank you

Why you want Upgrade?

First started considering it for the nicer, smoother and more modern look but also hoping it may improve some minor connectivity issues with ny wireless AA device...and perhaps some extra features.
