Goodbye BMW, HELLLOOWWW vRS!

Featured Replies

Just disposed of my BMW 320i (51 reg) in favour of a rather tasty Octavia vRS (05 reg). MMMmm

The two are miles apart! (vRS is the one in front of course :D ) although I have forgotten how to park without rear parking sensors :o Its nice not to be driving an armchair around anymore, and even the comfort levels in the vRS are higher than the BMW. Me=Very smug

hi. and welcome.

hahaha. yes, I'll not miss that and thankfully I only had the BMW since Jan this year, so my exposure was not as bad as it could have been :)

Thanks for the warm welcome all. :D

Mmmmm - - - I don't have, nor ever have owned a BMW, but am mystified that it's taken for granted that ownership brings with it certain negative traits.

Remember, we are a Skoda site and regardless of how good the product is we're still undeservedly tarnished by badge snobbery.............whilst not wanting to dampen what was said in humour, there is a lot of truth in "many a true word said in jest".

Perhaps just a little more acceptance of others and their choices would help, rather than label them if they're different from us.

Lance

Welcome.

I think you will actually find this is a site that appreciates all good cars. The people are intelligent and fair and teasing far outweighs slating.(Except for the City Rover)

Enjoy the new car and a bit of friendly banter:)

Understood Lance,

But we are a friendly forum, we have banter and laughs most of the time, should you have interpreted my comment to nedbloggs to be otherwise maybe you should google search for a good surgeon that performs sense of humour bypasses and see if you can have yours reversed.

Welcome to nedbloggs yet again, and I’m glad you took my comment in the humour it was intended.

Hello and welcome.:) :)

First question - when are you getting it remapped :D :D :D

Where did that come from?

I have worked in a Skoda dealers for 5 years and for 5 years I have listened to all the insults that people could throw.

I still do now as I love the Skoda range.

I did take it all on the chin as most of us do with the Skoda badge snobbery.

Its only until people can get over the badge that they realise it is a VERY good car.

It is a big thing for BMW`s and IIRC Volvo`s.

So we all do the same thing , take it on the chin.

Hello and welcome.:) :)

First question - when are you getting it remapped :D :D :D

As soon as I find out if it'll void the nice shiney warranty that comes with a new(ish) car. Oh, and then find some cash to pay for it... and the hike in insurance... Anyone need a kidney? :D

Hi Sarah

My point wasn't to insult nor point fingers at anyone. It was purely to point out that when you/me/we/us judge someone by the car they drive, then we're just as guilty as those that slate a Skoda just because it's a Skoda.

I personally judge no one by the car they drive. If your an *** in a BMW then you are also likely to be one in a Skoda.

In short, give people a chance, don't pre judge them.

Sorry to gang up on you Lance' date=' but I have to disagree; having been driving a BMW, I believe it to be the [b']car [/b]that encourages the driver to "generally not give a ****" about the other drivers on the road and personally, I blame it on the driving position :)

Driving position?

Is it radical?

I know I have a motorbike and that is a sports one.

The riding position on that is hard so makes you feel like your on a track.

But then I only get up to 60 quicly dont go over the speed limit ;)

The driving position in the Octavia I always thought to be great!

What do you think?

sorry, should have explained...

To me, driving the BMW was a bit like slouching on the sofa wearing tracksuit bottoms and a beer stained t-shirt whilst swearing at the TV. in other words, no matter how smartly dressed and proper the driver (and I'd like to consider myself relatively tidy), the way it makes you sit, makes you feel like you own the road, and anyone on it who doesn't go into the kitchen to get you another beer had better watch out for the empty casually aimed at their head... But then we're edging towards another sterotype there. But it's just my opinion, maybe it's just that I prefer a more engaging (and upright) driving position like that of the vRS :D

Lance mate, I have had more marques than you care to imagine, some fantastic and some not so hot so I would hardly class myself as a Skoda tunnel vision 'chip on the shoulder' type person.

Anyway, above and beyond that from perusing your previous 18 posts you seem to me to be nothing more than a post whoring troll, but of course that is in my own opinion and not the view of the Briskoda users as a whole. If you have nothing of any value to add and have not got the ability to lighten the hell up then please hold back the urge to post pish and drivel, this post is in the Welcome area to new users where i welcomed a new member with a light hearted quip, an ice breaker if you like, who took the post as it was intended, This is not an area for you to post your thoughts on Skoda drivers attitudes towards other marques and indeed not an area where i should have to create a post to defend previous posts.

If you feel the urge to broach this subject further why not create a thread in the correct area asking about opinions towards others, but I think if you use the search function you may well find one already containing that info.

Many thanks for your replies though, please do feel free to wind your neck in and sit the **** down.

Regards

:feedtrol: even though i just have.:D

Once again! Welcome to the fellow skoda owner hope you love ur vRS!! As you can see alot of banter around!!

Cummon guys calm it down never get a slating match when anyone else joins, BMW owner or not it makes no difference

Welcome to briskoda.

Although I'm not a BMW fan, they are nice to drive. The vRS is great is any form
