Perhaps when you get a big turbo and run some proper bhp you may need the extra cooling?

Love those brakes! Looks very good, Its refreshing to see a nice build thats not got all the usual modifications. 

 

Somewhat contradictory but if i ever go down the FMIC route i'd be doing the exact same as yours, keep it looking as standard as possible and hidden painted black. youve got the best intercooler imo as well, fits perfectly, no hassle, no cutting, takes an hour start to finish to fit

Black intercoolers also work better and that is fact aswell not fiction

There are two of us who've done write ups on suspension, i'm sure the one you refer to went for a different spring to the eibachs but still kept it a sensible 30mm drop

Honestly? Not too much TBH, going to get some use out of it over the summer then I might be doing an underneath resto over next winter, already collecting parts in advance for it.

 

The Bilstein B14 Coilover kit has been tempting me recently so I might go down that route at the same time.

+1 on the B14's, cracking set.

With Skodafest just round the corner, the car was due a decent clean - I try to do the chassis and arches at good few times a year, so...

 

Jack it as high as possible..

 

 

 

Using a pressure sprayer filled with a mix of Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, give the arches and all the underneath floorpan a good soaking, let it dwell for a few minutes then attack it with a large wide detailing brush, paying close attention to all the nooks and crannies.

 

Messy part is lying on your back jet washing the lot off, but worthwhile

 

 

 

All the arches and suspension were cleaned this way, you can see how the spare wheel well has come out in this picture

 

 

 

The arches were dried with an old waffle weave drying towel then treated with a light mist of Autosmart Highstyle, then wiped down with a microfiber work cloth. Front AP Racing brake calipers were treated with Poorboys Trim restorer on a small brush, then wiped down with another MF cloth.

 

Wheels were cleaned in and out then given two coats of Poorboys wheel sealant

 

 

 

Wheels were then refitted, tyres dressed with Autosmart Highstyle, the car lowered down, wheel nuts torqued etc etc.

 

Repeat on the other side then job done.

One thing that has always niggled me about most mk1 Fabias, including my own is the awful way the rear tailgate screens delaminate over time, to the point of it being an eyesore..

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, you can either put up with it, or replace and at the same time upgrade!

 

Quick visit to TPS saw a new mk1 Fabia SE rear window on my desk at work, main reason for going for the SE screen is it's the factory "sunset tinted glass". The rest of the windows will be done in due course with an equivalent light tint.

 

Fitted by my local independent glass man, then the new VW Polo wiper arm and blade conversion fitted and Bob's your Aunts live in lover..

Totally agree. Side windows are (if tinted well) impossible to distinguish from the OE sunset glass but aftermarket tints on the original rear window never look great especially on the dotted black edge sections - stand out a mile
