So you got your s3

So you have got your s3.

Just wondering how of us have made changes to their car since its arrival.

If so what have you done ?

Chrome boot protector. Stainless Pedal set. Rubber Mats. Rear Transmission Tunnel rubber cover. Tablet holder for rear seat and armrest.

Brushed chrome bumper protector (Superskoda)

Rear rubber floor mats (Superskoda)

Rubber transmission tunnel cover (Superskoda)

Rubber boot mat (Theskodashop.co.uk)

iPad holder for rear headrest and armrest (we've ALL banged our heads on the damned thing so far!) (Superskoda)

Philips LED fog lights (Powerbulbs)

Philips LED rear indicators (Powerbulbs)

Philips Xtreme D3S xenon lamps (Lichtex.de)

LED tailgate interior lights - standard W5W lights look rubbish compared to the LEDs all over the rest of the car (Superskoda)

Dashcam

Several VCDS mods - ongoing......

I've got front and rear mudflaps coming from Superskoda as I'm fed up with the crap that gets kicked up from the tyres. Also got the front set of rubber mats coming as I'm really impressed with the rear mats that successfully kept half of Cornwall's sand on them, rather than in the carpet!

Stainless pedals

Flat bottomed (perforated leather) vRS steering wheel

LED rear indicators (Philips X-treme Vision PY21W)

LED reversing lights (80W CREE)

LED front fog lights

LED boot lights

LED glovebox light

iPad holder

Front and rear dash cams (Thinkware F750) (c/w a new switched power supply routed to the boot)

Mudflaps

Winter wheels & Nokian tyres

GTechniq Crystal Serum detail

Shark remap

Not to mention one or two VCDS changes  :D

How are you finding the F750? I've recently installed one in my car. I think I might have to move it a little as it's directly below the sensor/camera pod and struggles with GPS reception, probably due to the heated screen.

So far I cannot get the app to work (Mac) but will download it on my VCDS windows tablet and see if it works on that.

I have the rear (small) camera in the windscreen and the large main unit in the back window though as I wanted the front camera to be as hidden as possible.

Yes, it's a big old beast of a camera isn't it. I am hoping the size will reduce the chances of overheating, as is common with the Blackvue cameras. I'm not too worried about the presence of the main unit as it's mostly concealed by the rear view mirror. The GPS issue is irritating though.

I haven't tried the Mac side of things yet, but my Macbook has Bootcamp/Windows 10 on it, so I might try that if I have issues. The app seems to be ok on the iPhone at least.

Yes I have no issues with the iPhone app.

FWIW I am on my 3rd Blackvue (one in my S2 and a pair in the Yeti) and they have all performed faultlessly

Unfortunately I wasn't fairly unlucky. I was always plagued with overheating problems on two models, as well as the rear camera on a DR650 just dying on me completely. I haven't returned to the brand since. A shame as they were pretty good initially.

Anyways, I've dragged the thread sufficiently OT for one evening.......

With regards to the Stainless steel pedals, I've been toying with the idea of getting them. Are they available as an official Skoda accessory? If not, would my local Skoda dealer have a problem with fitting them for me? My mechanical expertise extends to opening the boot sadly!

Yes they are genuine Škoda items, the dealer should have no problem in fitting them either (superskoda are quite a bit cheaper to buy them though)

Fitted mudflaps

Waxed and sealed

Activated Lane Assist with VCDS.

Ejoyed the car.

What hardware items were required to activate lane assist?

Was it the higher resolution camera that comes with traffic sign recognition?

I wonder if i can activate it on mine, having not specced anything very related to a better camera. (arricing in several months..)

I have an SE equivalent i believe (Ambition spec, in the not-UK world) and ACC as the only extra that could barely relate to lane assist .

There is only one camera in 3V (called A5). If your car has this camera (also used for HBA and TSR) you should be able to enable it.

Camera looks like this:

Alright, thanks, i'm afraid i won't have that since i don't have traffic signs or high beam specced. Because they required some ridiculous extra crap to be added : /

I have now retried the PC and Mac software and the GPS position works perfectly on the PC (but not on the Mac)

So I can only assume as I have the large (front) camera in the rear window the GPS reception is not affected?

The large camera is obviously where the GPS gubbins is located, as the rear screen has no heat shielding or film type heating element, the signal must be good.

Where did you route the front to rear video cable? I had a dual camera setup in my Mk2, and routing the cable through the headlining and into the tailgate was punishing to say the least. I won't be routing it like that on the new car!

I had to install it on the Mk.2's rear window as the headlining runs right up to the opening. I'm thinking of a couple of strong magnets each side of the headlining for the new one, so as not to damage it.

*Edit: Ignore most of that, as I just caught your post on how the rear cam was fitted!*

Plenty of stuff ready to order from Superskoda just waiting for a discount promo.

Whole host of tweaks in VCDS and retro fit of paddle shift SW which is a work in progress. Sadly so busy at work, I haven't had time to pop in to my local dealer and pick their brains on loom, buttons and control module differences between paddle shift and non paddle shift variants (if any).

What trim have you ordered? If you've got SE L then TSR is an £85 extra, nothing else needed. I just got the dealer to add it onto my order today.

The trims are different outside the UK - my base trim is the second lowest and looking ah the prerequisites, i'm going to need a lot more to get the cam : /

I see, that makes sense. I was forgetting not all countries get the same kit on the different trims. The second lowest trim in the UK would require lots of extras too, as you need navigation which doesn't come on it.
