Im guessing this is oil stem seals, but the question is what can this lead to? what should i do?

Nothing, don't worry about it for now.

My VRS has done it ever since I bought it  2 years go at ever cold start up and there's no running or oil consumption problems.

Mine does it too also not using oil

Does it also appear to run lumpy ?

Mr. catalytic and sensors don't like oil, but goes it so goes it...

Blue smoke when driving is much worse. If so it is time to a check.

Wast that in response to my lumpy running question?

I've also noticed this, I'm due a service so I just assumed that it was old oil, but then I know very little about these things. So if this happens after the service, there's nothing to worry about then?

Sorry to bump an old thread lads but mines done it since I've owned it, on cold starts its a very very slight with mainly black which then goes when warmed up, when driving its clean and on boost hardly smokes black at all

Mines done it since I bought it, heard it's quite normal

Pretty much. As said above; blue smoke on boost or acceleration is something that needs inspecting. A little puff of blue on cold startup is not a problem.

As far as I understand, most cars, especially older ones will do this as they burn off the oil that's settled at the bottom of the cylinder when the engine gets switched off and it shouldn't be cause for concern.
