Replacement wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Apologies for posting this as i can see there are a lot of other "wiper blade" threads but i couldn't find one that confirmed the sizes.

Eurocarparts say 24" and 19" on the front  where as another site I've looked at says 24" & 20".

Using the power of tape measure it's apparent the ones on my car are 24" and 18" respectively.

The 19" Suggestion might just fit but the clearance would be marginal.

The 20" suggestion is absurd as it would be off the screen.

As i didn't have the car from new i don't know if someones put a different size blade on or if Eurocarparts is just wrong.

I've found the site suggestions to often be spoardic at best so it would be useful to know if someone else has gone through this process and what they chose and from where.

thanks,

-

Richard

I don't doubt most sites will say that and the aero twins are what I'm looking at using.

My Niggle is that I suspect most sites use a centralised database and just quote the same details regardless.

So if it's wrong in one place it's likely wrong everywhere.

I was hoping someone had actually measured / gone through the actual process just to put that little bit of doubt out of my mind as it looks very marginal in regards to clearance if i put on the larger size.

I bought BOSCH Aerotwin A860S Flat Windscreen Wiper from eBay which lists them as 24" and 19".  They fit perfectly so Im assuming they were the same size as OEM.

Thanks for that. Puts my mind at rest.

Not sure why I've got an 18" one on the front passenger side then unless it was replaced incorrectly by previous owner.

The 19" must be a pretty tight clearance as it's only about 15mm between where blades would meet (with the 18" fitted).

On the subject of wipers how are you supposed to raise the wiper arms up for cleaning/replacing without fouling the bonnet?

In my S6 there was an service option in the car setup menus that moved them just far enough to do this.

Life the bonnet and go in underneath

wipers on

switch engine off at an appropriate moment seems to work though there is some method detailed in the handbook that i cant lay my hands on at themoment

if i remember correctly the last time i changed them i just did them in the park position - it wasnt difficult

Sorry - and 24"/19" are the right ones

if you check in Halfords in store things they also have 2 different sizes for the passenger side, or at least they did last September time

Bosch Aerotwins excellent choice

Yep Auric - that sounds right to me

used a tape to measure my factory fitted blades and they are 600 mm and 475 mm long which make exactly 23.6 in and 18.7 in respectively.

As said above, 24/19 should be the best bet.

Well this is just gets stranger.

I popped into the local dealer and the ones on the car outside were the same as mine, 24" and 18".

The parts department unboxed a spare set on site and they are also 24" and 18".

I'm guessing the 19's fit (based on other responses).

Does anyone have a tape and an unchanged set to compare (in the UK)?

The Mark 2 blades were even easier to fit.Just lift arms away from screen,  rotate blade on its arm and slide it off

Haven't tried Mk. 3 yet.

I've just measured mine - car is 6 weeks old.

Drivers is 24", passenger is 18" on the nose.

If you buy them from your Skoda dealer you will get the right ones, but I guess all this fuss is about saving a few quid....lol
