2016 Vrs brake sizes?

Featured Replies

Just taken delivery of my VRS Tdi estate this week, car is brilliant, love it but i noticed straight away that the front brke set up is not the 340mm version I was expecting, mine appears to have the standard golf gti/gtd 312mm discs and calipers. Is this correct? have they down graded the brakes? if they have thats pretty poor in my opinion especially on a "perfomance" model.

Be interested to know as well as mine are the same!!

Very annoying!

What does the brochure say?

oh dear.  Is that a hidden cost cutting exercise :(

Have they done the same with the petrol vrs?

With my build week about to start this is disappointing.

Reject it then

If it's not what you ordered

Regards

Pretty sure it's not as simple as that, can't see anywhere in the brochure or any literature where it states brake spec, they are still clearly good brakes so up to the job but to me it's a fairly big spec change so would have been nice to be made aware when ordering.

Think this all started over in Facebook. Someone did email skoda I think

Anyone wth a 230 checked their brakes? Are they the same as some of them will be 2016 build??

That is a bummer. Wonder how much a feel difference there is?

Shame but the 312mm brakes are fitted to all performance Golf's bar the PP equipped GTI, Clubsport and R....I have a GTD and the brakes are way more than adequate.

One thing I've never been overly mad on is that the vRS has whopping big front brakes but piddly 272mm (I think) rears as any other Octavia....with 312's if anything probably looks a bit more balanced and won't look too small behind an 18" alloy...the 18's perhaps exaggerate it a bit.

The rears look really puny with 18" rims.

Its almost looks silly with the Turbine alloys. Given that the vrs has the same rear brakes as the 1.8Tsi.

My 230 (delivered 3rd March) has the 340mm fronts and puny non vented rears which i guess are the standard vRS size.

Shame they didn't get the vented rears like the golf R/clubsport, but no biggie.

fronts do most of the work, but agree they look tiny especially with 19" wheels.

So will 18" alloys (for winter) fit on the 230?

Yes

Nice, thanks. Thinking about placing an order for one.

Its a good car. Expensive in Norway due taxes. Around 46000gbp here.

I am satisfied with it. Performance is good.

Also 17" with 225/45R17s - but be careful of clearance of balance weights.

With 17" also make sure the spokes on the wheels don't catch the Brake callipers especially if the spokes are curved

They were downgraded (on Diesel models) to 312mm, mine are the same. They do look more 'balanced' with the smaller rear ones though IMO.

Ps re your username - 1878 isn't anything football related is it?
