Heated Windscreen fitted?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've had my Superb MkIII for just over a month now and I'm over the moon with her, she's everything I'd hoped/expected she'd be. I do need some advice though...

I ordered the heated windscreen option as I had an Escort Ghia with one a few years ago and it was bloody marvellous on a frosty morning. I remembered the minute filaments in the screen took a little bit of getting used to visually and when I ordered my Superb the only car in the showroom that had the heated screen was a Yeti and checking that, I could still see the filaments, albeit very faintly indeed.

The thing is, I can't see any evidence of the filaments in my Superb's screen at all. All the switches for a heated screen are present in the car, but in the absence of a frosty morning for the next few months I appear to have no way of checking I actually do have the heated screen. Is there some new screen heating technology being used for the Superb III, or has my vehicle been supplied without the option? Alternatively, should I be making an appointment with Specsavers?

Can anyone shed some light for me?

The new Superb doesn't use the old method of wires in the windscreen it uses a metal film.

You'll notice from the outside that the windscreen has a metallic glint in different lights compared to a non heated version.

Thanks guys. Those answers make sense. I wondered if that was the case but I couldn't find anything about it on the web. Briskoda to the rescue again!
