If you've had enough of the Xmas Turkey and fancy getting out to watch a bit of Motorsport, The Simpsons Skoda Neil Howard Memorial Rally takes place on the 27th and 28th December at Trax Motorsport in Preston (27th) and Park Hall Hotel, Charnock Richard (28th).

All the official cars will be Skoda vRS with the new Octavia vRS featuring as opening car. The driver of the new Octavia vRS will be Simpsons Managing Director, Neil Simpson, who is better known for his exploits as works VW rally driver and VW group test driver.

The new Octavia vRS and the other cars will be on static display between stages.

There will also be a free prize draw for spectators with the winner receiving a SkodavRS Jacket, hat and scarf.

I went today and met up with Andy2407, missed Smiffy somehow, but saw yer car in the carpark. It was blimmin cold i tell ya, but a nice event, in the sense you could get up close to the action. Got quite a few pics, but wont bore you with them unless anyone is interested, and me and andy, well andy actually, blagged a couple of nice new baseball hats from the nice man from simpsons skoda, the event sponsor. The new octy vrs was the course car, and we had a good poke about inside and out, and got to see it being used properly around the course. Esp2 sounds interesting, but for another thread I think.

Good day out - although not yet thawed out fully - don't think it got much above zero degrees all day!

Thanks to Spinndrift for the results link - must admit I hadn't got a clue what was going on, although it didn't really matter. As Shifty said it was just good to be close to the action.

Also a very big to the guys at Simspson Skoda in Colne. Nice hats and good guys to chat with - will definitely have to get over when you get your Octy2 vRS estate in.

For anyone thats after a new vRS they said they have 10 on order, so may be a good place to avoid the wait if they have what you want in stock.

Top day out - and as an added bonus I'm sure Shifty promised me free fish and chips for blagging him a hat!

Sounds like it was a successful event especially as my mate Skilly came third.
