The time is nearly upon me

Featured Replies

I'm reliably informed that I should soon be holding the funds with which to go buy myself the (preferably black) Mk1 vRS estate I've been longing for. The date is (currently) set at 11th May so just under 2 weeks.

I have my list of what to look for prepped and ready to roll and there's 2 cars I want to look at reasonably locally (they've been up for sale for a few weeks now, I'm just hoping they'll still be about when I'm good to go).

After the weekend I'll be ringing around for insurance quotes. Done a uSwitch price comparison thingy and the best quote, with declared mods (the ones the car is most likely to come with, if any), was £700 and included the fitting of a black box.

Not having a black box fitted and I'm not paying seven hundred bloody quid either!!!

Wish me luck!!

Give Chris Knott a call. Can't hurt, and you might be surprised.

They are on my call list. Apparently Brisky has its own number for their special deals, or something like that. I'm in 3 other (non Skoda) car clubs with a similar thing going. Perhaps I can get all 4 discounts applied (I jest)..

Good luck.

Thanks. Smartarse  :D

Do you all declare every mod?

Even things like poly bushes, rarb, big mouth bumper, colour coded grille, interior LED conversions, silicone hoses, everything??

Is there anything that you don't need to declare?

Declare everything, that way you can be sure they're not going to be picky if you need to make a claim.

Well.. the 2 local-ish estates are sold and there's not much about right now it seems.

A week til I'm in a position to go further afield, keeping my arthritic old fingers crossed. Have looked at different makes and models but not much else is doing it for me..
