servo motor rear lid thats what its and guess how much.........£350 for one,

cant be leave this price.

You'll need new ones I think. We had two replaced in our car at 68,000miles. It cost 630 GBP all up. Such a rip off. If they fail again I am converting it to normal struts!

thanks for the reply, iv took them both off had a look, but they look like sealed parts so can see hats wrong, guessing the wind has bent them. bit daft when you think thats their job to open and close and being in the uk we have a bit of wind now and then they should cope with it. easy to fit but can only find these at skoda garages so they are keeping the price up i guess. £330 iv found one for, not cheap at all. its still working now and then so ill cope for now.

This was one of the few options I thought i would have liked with my car but didn't get . I'm no longer quite as jealous now that you posted this. I'll go out and tell my rubber pull handle that I've changed my mind about it....   :mmm:

It was one of the options I didn't want to have, but the car we bought had it so....

Even a mild amount of wind gets the boot upset, stops and beeps in protest. Its not like I can ask the wind to stop, so it gets forced open/closed by hand. Then there are the helpful people who try and close it for you by pushing it (more beeping).

Sure its handy when you want to let the dog out when you forgot about him and are already in the house.....or have a handful of groceries and its raining..... but to anyone considering it as an option. Don't.

I was looking into how hard it would be to retrofit this into my Taxi as can get parts from a breaker. My Merc estate has it and I love the feature so thought about retrofit BUT

Maybe not

In the Merc I can open by hand or remote or button on tailgate.
I can do the same closing even if I decide its half way open or closed I can manually take over and open or shut myself and its all good.

Is this not possible on the superb??

Good question, I had assumed the same.

While you can 'take over' opening or closing the boot manually the system doesn't like it, as you'll be working against the servo motors. The manual says "Do not try to manually close the lid during the electric closing process. Damage can occur to the system of the electric boot lid". The boot will also beep at you for being an inferior organic being.

Strangely the manual also notes that if the lid is covered in a thick layer of snow the opening process can be interupted, and in order to ensure the electrical function of the lid, "relieve the lid", not yourself.

In summary, never open/close it manually as it'll be ruined, unless, it gets overwhelmed by a gust of wind or frozen water, then lend it a hand, ignore the beeping protest, and don't come crying to us with a warranty claim.

The dog handling was why I thought it would have been nice...but the wind information nailed it for me. I'm on the west coast of Ireland and the wind is always coming in off the Atlantic. I'd have been "assisting" the motor every second day. Either that, or a gust, would have screwed it.

and thinking about it, we had 10 storms last winter with winds from 110 to 130kph. What was I thinking? I'm too stupid to breed!

yes my advise if you have one of these boot closers is fit a wind sock on the roof of your car and if it moves use the rear doors drop the seats to gain access to the boot.

its a shame really as iv had the boot programmed to close by the key and inside.

now if it beeps i have to mutter lots of bad words and slam it shut.
