Second day of owning my new VRS with kessy and I noticed when I parked the car on the drive and open my door the car turned off and I got the "dont forget you phone" message. I then pressed the off/on switch and everything came back on. Is this normal? Does this mean I can park at work and just get out without having to touch the on/off button?

Sounds like an automatic message to me, just part of the sequence like the interior lights coming on..

If the phone has been connected via bluetooth you will get the 'don't forget the phone' message.

Oh I know the message is just automatic when you take out the key/press stop but what I'm asking is with Kessy can I just pull up in a car park, put car in neutral, apply hand break then just open the door and lock the car without having to touch the car on/off button.

I would say even if it did work, getting out of the car leaving the engine running is not a good habit to get into.

 

I tested something similar on my Subaru, but that was out of curiosity incase I was outside my car and someone jumped in and tried to drive off. Pressing the lock button had no effect at all. I was actually surprised.

Because I have stop/start active the engine cuts out when I let the clutch out and the moment I open the driver door the ignition power cuts and I get the phone reminder message, so I guess I can just get out and lock it  

Ah ok A friend with a Golf does just that then, SS turns off the engine and he just gets out and locks it. The electronic handbrake also applies itself.
