Towing limits: quick question

Featured Replies

Mine's a keeper!

Haven't used it for two years because of having a couple of cars without tow bars (and missed it) but I've got some jobs lined up for it once I've got the tow bar fitted, which has been delayed.

I've towed a few caravans (big and small) and the odd braked trailer over the decades, in various tugs from LRs down.  Always knowing that what's behind will stay behind, whatever happens.  An unbraked trailer is only under proper control when the tug's effectively pulling (acceleratng or climbing).  Under emergency braking conditions, the energy of the trailer is surely concentrated on the tow hitch - a pivot point - with only the tyre contact patches to restrain it.  No, thank you.  JMO.
