always wondered what would happen to the amount of non-attenders should people's benefits be cut if their kid was off school...

I reckon we'd all be up for a tax cut.

Nah, they'd find something else to waste it on. :(

As one journo said 'the same poor families that send them to school in the most expensive trainers' date='give them the X box's,watch a plasma telly, spend loads on mobile phones and have a BMW on the drive'

DISCIPLINE[/quote']

The reason these so called 'poor families' can afford the plasmas, BMW's latest trainers etc is down to 2 things in my opinion,

the first being council houses, a stupid idea if ever I saw one, why should someone who isn't disabled and perfectly capable of earning a wage be entitled to a house when they are just plain and simply lazy? people who do have jobs should not be allowed to live in council houses either as they are capable of financing their own home, and what the hell is that 'right to buy ****' all about? why should some lazy t*ssbag scum be able to buy a nice sized house at a reduced price while hard working honest people have to struggle to pay full price?

the second is the ease with which people can borrow money these days, the council types will just take out loan after loan with no intention of ever paying them back - what is the penalty - poor credit rating, gee that'll stop them, or at worst, pay back loan at

Crap parenting skills, broken homes, unemployment, poverty trap ...blah, blah , blah. Its as simple as that !! DO NOT BLAME TEACHERS. We have to deal with what we get !!:finger:

ODD and ADHD.........in my experience are increasingly used to justify poorly disciplined and unrully children who's parent's can't be ar$ed to train them to conduct themselves in a socially acceptable manner.

I was FULLY diagnosed as CLINICALLY hyperactive, and slept for less then 4 hours every night for the first 4 years of my existence on this earth. They did try some sort of sedative to get me to sleep - it worked. For about 3 days (which interestingly is how long modern Temazapam works on me too) My mother worked hard at training me to sit still, behave with respect towards other people and property.

Ok, i've lapsed into fidgeting like hell and my sleep is all over the shop, but I'm well adjusted (by comparison to the goldie-lookin' chain types)

Give them four months boot-camp style, then if they don't behave, sterilise them....then they'll die out.........slightly less controversial than outright execution....

AAwwwww but it takes to long for them to become extinct that way........cant we re-educate the hunting fraternity to go after them instead of foxes....similarities are all there ....they are vermin......they steal things.........damage things......and go to ground during the day most times  ...I'd go and watch

Little ****s... the missus and I were in the park a few years ago, we fancied a go on the swings (in the traditional 'we're too old but it's cute' way) but these little charvers (about 11 or 12) saw us and pushed past us to jump on the swings, and then started asking all these questions about our sex life and how much was it like the sex scene in Scary Movie?

When we walked off they followed us, and later on one tried to run us down on his pushbike.

If anyone's read Ratboy in Viz, you'll know what it's like.

with this thread in my mind i went to ASDA. was in the clothes area while my mother and sister checked out the clothes and i started watching a young child (2 maybes) and her mother (19) her sister (19ish) and their mother (40).

my attention was first drawn to them when the kid screamed and ran towards a stand full of cheap tat...the kid grapped one of these beedy things...and the granmother went over to her and tried to take it off her but she kept hold and ran to her mother ( 2 metres away). her mother then laughed, thought it was really funny...and the whole family then spent the next 5 minutes letting the kid choose something off the rack. what has that taught the kid? if she wants something - she gets it! Great value to install into them . before moving away because they were annoying me...i heard the sister of the mother descirbe what the child had picked up as 'sexy' ....

while still waiting a young mother (25) came to look at kiddy shoes with her son (4ish). she was knelt down on the floor and the kid went and looked and children slippers...he came back and said, 'would this look good on me mam' or something similiar...to which she didn't reply...because there was obviousily no hope of getting the shoes ( i dont think he actually wanted them) he just threw the shoe on the floor and left it...the mother - oh, she did nothing!

it doesn't just occur in ASDA tho. the charver family in this street own an Octy, Escort mk5 and about 3 cherry pickers (all 3 vans spread out across the next couple of streets and no one seems to mind!) anyway, this family see nothing wrong in allowing their youngest son (he must be 13 now) drive both the escort and octavia around in the street. these streets are narrow and full of cars and they don't seem to mind - christ that makes me angry. when i had my rapid outside i was told that if i ever drove it without permission the car would go straight to the scrappers...that certainly stopped me from driving it. (also, the octy they have, i don't think they ever service or anything - it sounds like a bag of nails now!)

Scum culling sounds good.

you lot should trying growing up with this lot.

I did grow up with this lot. I went to the local school and then on to the local secondary school. At primary school, I had grants to buy my uniform and also had free school dinners due to my mum being a single parent. Neither school ranked highly in the governments ranking, in fact my secondary school has nearly always been bottom in the county. The simple reason is that they will take anyone. The other secondary schools around here used to pick and choose their students so obviously got the cream. The school I went to had no uniform and was a haven for letting people grow up in the wrong way. While there, I saw my first stabbing (non-fatal), all manner of drugs, a fair few beatings that needed hospital and plenty more. I still live with my parents in an ex-council house and yes, we did that Right-To-Buy thing too. Wouldn't you if they offered you the chance to buy your house for half the price?

If you ask anyone who has met me though, they'll confirm I'm totally unlike what you'd perceive a council estate lad to be like. (Or at least I hope)

Whilst I obviously understand that not everyone on council estates are useless t*ssers and that there are some perfectly decent and respectable people living their, my point is that if you are a decent and respectable person you would strive to own your own home through your own hard work and not through some mis-guided government scheme that should never have been allowed in the first place.

Obviously your parents had the opportunity to purchase their house for half price, and no-one is going to blame them for grasping that opportunity - good luck to them, but why shouldn't I be able to buy my house for half price as well?

Hardly fair is it?

It's not fair, your right. I can't get onto the council list, I tried when I was 18, thinking that about now they may have something. They wouldn't let me purely because I'm not a single mum (I'd be rich if I was) nor was I an illegal immigrant. I would have liked to at least get on the list so I'd have the choice of maybe a housing association. But how can I move out now? My education was flawed (my college course ended 2 weeks early btw so I did 2 years and got nothing for it) and so can only get scum jobs. This means £13k on nights, that won't buy anything, just for a deposit at todays money I'd be saving for 5 years. I'd love to own my own home, I really would. I'm currently putting away about 50% of my take home into savings, I'll bet thats more than most people as a percentage. But I really do have no hope, I should really spend that £400 on lottery tickets each month, I have a slim chance then.

I always though anyone could get on a council housing list, but were prioritised so that single mums etc got the houses first, anyone else could be waiting years before they got to the front of the list.

It's strange how equal rights for poor people dont work in reverse eh!!

I think it should be changed so that people able to pay the rent should get council houses first and not some teenage mum who got a kid purely to get a house, especially ones who currently owe thousands of pounds and are currently saying 'so what'. (I really really really do like my sister)

Joy:thumbup: .Headline in our local paper.6 little grotbags were picked up by the police.

Aged between 12 and 13.They had been stringing tape across the road and throwing things at traffic.People had reported swerving cars and police expressed great concern as to what could have happened to any motorbikers.

Caught when they lobbed things at an unmarked police car (which was out looking for them:D )

Think it is the same kids who have been throwing things at houses in the area for a while now.And it is quite a nice area

Parents were 'shocked'.Kids said they were 'bored'.

Kids said they were 'bored'.

Actually, around here, I wouldn't be suprised if they were bored. My town used to have lots of open green spaces for kicking a football on, now they build 'apartments' on them. The leisure centre is good, we have a new one, but the swimming pool is olympic and so not suited to casual swimmers. The schools have had to give up their playing fields, partly due to rebuilding schools but then the old ground gets used for, yep, apartments. Shame these 'affordable housing' will be priced out of locals pockets. But the space locally to do anything active is fast disappearing.

The benefits system may have helped reduce poverty for the poorest people in the middle of the 20th century, but I believe it's destroying society the further we get into the 21st. There is no reason why any able-bodied adult should not fit into one of the following categories IMHO:

RESPONSIBLE adult raising children (and making sure they go to school  )

Full-time education / apprenticeship

Full-time working person

Person GENUINELY medically unfit to do ANY work (i.e. hospitalised)

Retired person

I am strongly against benefits being provided for anything other than a means of tiding someone over until they are able to sort themselves out, as a means of earning a living whilst raising a baby (RESPONSIBLY), if you GENUINELY aren't able to work, or if you've contributed to society over a proper working life and so have earned the right to live through your twilight years with support from the state.

There are plenty of jobs to go round (no-one's above cleaning the streets or building a kiddies' playground), so there's no excuse in my mind for being on the dole for more than a few months. And having 'a bit of a bad back' does not completely exclude you from the world of work. Seeing how 'Jobseekers' Allowance' means you should be looking for a job and not just skiving, you should appear at the Job Centre with evidence of your job-hunting every morning before you can get your dole money...

:sofahide:

(You'd never have guessed my mum was a Tory Councillor... ;) )

[edit]Oh, and I agree with Moose that council housing should be provided for people who can't afford a place to live, rather than some teenage mum who got knocked-up just to get a place of her own...[/edit]

:iagree:

My brother, who lives in Switzerland rents out his london home. The tennant has lived there for 12 months after paying for the year in advance from a divorce payout. She lives there with her two kids and is unemployed. Not a good situation for her. My heart bleeds, it really does ;)

Hwever my brother had planned to come back to the UK as he and HIS two kids and wife found being away from family hard. He therefore quit his job, and succesfully got one in London. This was before Christmas.

You can tell wht happened. She is refusing to pay. Therefore my bro, hard working and somewhat underpaid is homeles!!! Even though he owns a home... The benefits/mothering/molly coddling nature of the government today wont kick her out... There words astounded me - the main reason was bad press. If she had been kicked out befre christmas (even after probably been re-housed in waiting property in 24 hours) it would have hit the headlines.

Instead, she is 2 months in arrears, my bro has non-recoupable? legal costs and no sign of any rent but still a mortgage to pay. He is now back living with parents at the age 0f 33 and after 10 years living away and having to comute for upto 2 hours each way to his new work...

What the f**k is te wolrd coming to?

A load of bo*lox is the answer. Sorry, but im as patriotic as I can be, but it makes my blood boil.

Bring back thatcher. For a short term...! She'd put the shi*ties up 'em.

Rant over

Oh, and kids are the future of this country. Oh joy...

 If it's his house, why are the government/council involved? Surely it would be a private agreement between two private parties, all documented in contract. And by not paying her rent, she will no doubt be in breach of the contract, which means he has every right to terminate the lease and have her evicted?

Rob.

Thats what I thought too. But then again, what about the people who take over empty homes? You have to get court orders to remove them I believe? Yet its your house!!

Depends on the agreement. But if it is the more usual one there is no defence or assistance available

Terminate by notice

Court Proceedings (probably need a possession order still)

Send in Bailiff if she fails to go by possession date

Sod the press. There are possessions going on everyday. At least he got a year of rent though

Unfortunately it isnt that simple. She is 'in need'. Therefore the local council are involved and will, after a long wait reimburse the lost rent so far. She is in all respects homeless in the eyes of the government so she gets to stay where she is, at the cost of the tax payer until someone pulle their finger out and re-houses her.

Landlords have very little legal power in such cases, she has the government on her side and they say she should stay there. So bailiff are illegal, so would be attempting to get into property.

If not, I assure you me, bro and other bro would be there 'helping her pack', but we'd get nicked for it...

So, she s now having a nice 3 bed semi in Kingston paid for by the local council, until they see fit that she moves.

As for the homeowner... Who?

Bloody rediculous. Its actually beyond words and comprehension, that in todays modern, technological and developed worl that such a glaring glitch be overseen...

There was something about this on Radio 2 last year, someone who had such a tenant got the services of a large, Grant Mitchell-style bloke called Kevin to insist they leave... if they refused, Kevin physically removes them. The question was whether such a move was ethical, but a lot of landlords said they would indeed consider it to get rid of tenants who were refusing to pay rent and taking advantage of the legal situation.

Plus, it must be quite satisfying to watch the tenant, smugly getting a free house, being dragged out the door and thrown into the street.

We are more backward than we have ever been.Surprisingly,so are the kids.

Internet, digital photos, ability to play games on your own indoors. The ability to send texts and live on a mobile phone with a carp ringtone.Wow.

Even the space shuttle looks like an old Trabant

If I was the landlord, I'd invite Sky and get it shown on PPV, make a mint and get your house back. :D
