Your parents wasted their money there then!

My comprehensive school was free...

What gets me p*ssed off is when they've done something to you, your car or property and you confront them, somehow it's YOU whos in the wrong and "dissin" them or whatever, like they have the right to do what they want when they want and not be questioned about it.

I had some tw*t get out of my cab a while ago on the pretence of 'just poping in the house to get the money' (you can tell the people who genuinely keep the cab fare at home) so I got out with him and went to the front door and didn't let him shut it!

After a couple of minutes of him pretending to rumage around and look for the money then trying to intimdate me with a rottwiler (which was the softest dog i've ever seen, just came and sniffed me then gave me a friendly lick) he came back outside and announced 'he didn't have it, it was tough **** and i'm gonna say goodnight' so I told him 'it will be goodnight for you if you dont find the money and fast cos i'm gonna knock you out'.

Then I get the amazing response of 'why you trying to f*ck me over, are you trying to take me for some kind of ****? so I say - 'no, it's you who's tryin to f*ck me over, incase you'd forgotten you owe me a cab fare and your trying not to pay it!' somehow he's now got it into his thick head that i'm sayin he's the one thats a thieving **** and trys to turn it round into me 'dissin' him or whatever.

By now i've lost all patience, and there is another car waiting to get past mine which is blocking the road, I grab him by the throat as he tries to walk away and hold him up against the wall, he amazingly quickly found a

Hmm, how to respond to this.

Believe it or not these kids are ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder). Boy do I wish I was making that up but it is a recognised condition and, I expect, the next one to take over - in two years time it'll be all over the media like ADD/ADHD is now.

In a nutshell the minority of kids have listened to only one thing in school - their rights. They know you can't touch them and that the while the police may try the CPS will often go for a caution. They try it on with everyone and it's society as a whole that pays. Personally I hate to think what things will be like in 20 years time if, as a society, we don't turn things around.

Some kids like to go against the system (it seems like more than ever before because they know the teachers cannot do anything to them). It's amazing how much time is lost in a standard classroom to things like "sit down", "are you chewing?", "put the pen down and listen", "LISTEN!" etc

Some of the kids who do this sort of thing that this thread is about are the sort who just want to get out of the family home but don't seem to organise themselves well enough to arrange to do something else or who can't afford to do anything.

I suppose the real question is how can we instill the respect in children that we had 5 or 10 years ago (let alone 50 years ago)?

The answer is not easily. Teachers need to be supported by parents, government and society but in many ways teachers should be a back up - it's down to the parents to teach the difference between right and wrong at an early stage.

That probably doesn't answer it all but it's a little late for my brain!!!

"Oppositional Defiance Disorder"

I've heard of that too. I laughed my head off at it. How can disobeying what you're told be a 'disorder'??? other than 'dissing' an order....

Why does society feel the need to make excuses for unacceptable behaviour? By doing so we are removing all personal reponsibility from every area of life.

I'm sorry but I think all this ADHD or ODD etc etc that they keep coming up with these days is total b*ll*x. no-one had any of these acronims 50 years ago, and these so-called conditions didn't exist, IMO its just a way for the government etc to justify the fact that they aren't given any bl**dy disciplin wether at home or at school, it's about time childrens rights were taken away from them in some areas, so their can be some proper penalties for their behaviour.

a child in my 7 year olds class had to be removed from class as he wanted to put a pair of scissors into anohter pupil ,and when they were taken off him he tried to get at another pair ,the teacher had to physical restrain him and send him to the head.

his mum?takes him to school very often with a can of special brew in her hand(dad is long gone).at 7 years old what chance does he have with a parent like this?

my 2 year old daughter knows the difference betwen right and wrong or yes and no,i really do feel scaredfor my children when they grow up.

Stop piking on the pour guy will you. There nothing wrong with his anglish or gramor for taht mater. You lot our all very quick, too judge peoples.

Don't forget that you can take 'reasonable' steps to protect yourself and your property. Just a shame 'reasonable' doesn't include a quick execution sometimes.

I know this sounds a bit extreme but i sometimes think that King Herod had the right idea.

If they were all exterminated thay wouldn't misbehave!

I just recently watched the Jamie Oliver school dinners programs -- had not seen the before -- I was amazed at the way the Children behaved - its seventeen years since I left school - and oh my hasn't it changed !!.

But one of the eye openers was the response from the teachers once the school had transferred from the carp to good food -- less fighting, more responsive, better behaved - just from changing the food !!!

I think this country need to take a serious look at itself and what we are doing - millions being spent on all kinds of health campaigns -- when if just a percentage of that money was put into propper school meals -- it would reduce some of the problem.

Plus -- there MUST be some kind of punishment that teachers can be allowed to give - as has been said the kids no they can do nothing - so why llisten to them ??

Parents have to sow the discipline seed, I blame the parents for most of these wayward little s**ts going around causing misery.

As said above they know the teachers hands are tied and the police often cant do anything so there is no deterrent.

Its about time this country got tough with this sort of behaviour because we are on a slippery slope.

Build more prisons and lock them up, or bring back public flogging, its the only way.

Personally I'd prefer to call it ALS syndrome: Argumentative Little .

As an aside I generally teach excluded kids online - I never get to see them. They are often much better behaved in an online classroom as there is none of the "sit down", "are you chewing" going on. If they start swearing I can literally shut them up. Admitedly that's just clicking on an icon but it certainly works well.

I don't believe anyone really knows how bad schools are. I know teachers who have had kids shouting things like "Don't hit me sir" when they are 20 yrds away from them hoping that it sticks in the mind of a teacher should any such occasion arise. I also have head of children who have written lines like, I want xxx to come to my house so I can take a kitchen knife to them and stab them to death. Same lad was expelled for chucking a desk at a teacher but was let back in because of social inclusion. Needless to say the 'parent' thinks the sun shines out his a*se and that he does nothing wrong. Despite him wanting to stab a classmate. Right....Children have the upper-hand in schools so much it's sad and there is no governmental back-up.

One guy in my year was a right nutter, and was excluded and sent to a special school, I believe it was residential. Met him on the bus a while back and he came out with a trade and is now a joiner with his own flat, completely sorted. I know the 11+ was always critisised but I can't help but feel there was something to it and todays 1 size all education system (where grades are the be all) doesn't help. I'm also informed that the English system is particularly poor, a few Australian friends that came to teach were shocked at it.

As for the nutters, I have seen images of them throwing stones and bricks at a bin lorry in the north of Glasgow, and etching on a bus which says f*ck da CCTV. Problem is our society mollycoddles these people, no job means benifits, and free transport, healthcare is also free. No incentive to work, so they spend the day doing what they like. Personally I blame Thatcher... :)

It upsets me that too many people are so quickly to tarnish every child with the same brush, having a child that is on the autistic spectrum, and knowing children that have ADHD, it is not the parents or childs fault and it is not a lack of disipline within the household, my children on who like I said on the autistic spectrum the other is not and both get treated the same so why are they both not naughty??

Personnaly I think people tend to use certain things to group people who they dislike so they have a referance to them & then they can justify why these people do what they do, I do agree that these young aduylt that go around causing damage to other people properties etc, mugging people and so on are suffering from a lack of disipline but please don't automatically assume they actually have a condition like ADHD or another similar on just because they behave the way they do, DO however blame the disfunctional families & the way they have possibly been trated when they were children, maybe some have been abused, had serious problems within their families or are just beyond help because they have got involved with a bad group, I think you will find that most of the behaviour referred to in most of these post are not typical of people with ADHD, but of misguided yound adults who need help from parents, carers and the government by providing centres where kids can go and enjoy life theway it was when I was a child.

Paul.

They say a proper school uniform would help but 'poor' families would claim they couldn't afford it.

As one journo said 'the same poor families that send them to school in the most expensive trainers, give them the X box's,watch a plasma telly, spend loads on mobile phones and have a BMW on the drive'

People have everything now and the kids expect everything too.Discipline is lacking.Schools should be able to toast brats and parents that complain should be disciplined too.

There is no defence to bad behaviour or a government that fails to tackle it.And no,Margaret Thatcher didn't give birth to these children.Nor are they her grandchildren.

DISCIPLINE

tut tut , now come on you lot ... in this PC world in which we live in we have to SUPPORT these ODD suffering young adults , and welcome them back into our fold .....................

Then kick the **** out of the little b*ast*ds ..............

I would have given him a good boot stomping if I had been you. Followed by a

"DID YA LIKE THAT?"

"no"

"WELL WHAT THE HELL? DID YOU THINK THE BLOODY CAR WOULD LIKE IT?"

I personally beleive its lack of discipline. I was raised in a family where you did something wrong youd get a few good wacks. My father even broke a broomhandle across my *** once. Do I hate him for it? No. Now adays kids have to many rights. Parents cant hit their kids anymore. blah blah blah... Reintroduce the strap and the spanks and these problems will go away mighty fast. Its sad when im only 21 and im noticing this stuff.

I blame education. For example, where on Earth did you learn to write English?!?!? :)

The funny thing is... Im from Canada... He typed exactly how you british folk sound to us.:P :D

you lot should trying growing up with this lot.

i would be so quick to blame the schools tho. my mum works in the local school working with all the 'bad kids' and ones with special needs. she tries her hardest and get a hell of lot of stress, but she really does know how to handle them. she can quite easily reduces one of these 'hardcases' to tears. this is done by disapline.

that is what is lacking. these kids have grown up in inbreed communities having never had any hopes or asperations and no preasure from parents to do something with their lifes.

the lack of asperations i think is a problem of the government. if you are on benefits you get so much cheaper or free...you can get into the cinema cheaper for one thing...why on earth do these people who do nothing all day deserve cheaper things like this? surely awards should go to those who work and cuts should be made to these families so they really are struggling to survive. then they might get a job, or start stealing, which they'd get away with because the police couldn't be bothered to chase it up.

they are the complete and utter lowest ranks of society and something needs to be done.

as an example of poor parenting...2 years ago now, i was waiting outside of school with my girlfriend for a lift home and these two year 7s (11!) came and started giving us chew. being younger than i am now, and less experienced i retaliated ( i now think it is better to tell them to get back to their inbreeding grounds)...and i think if i remember correctly, one of them grabbed my grilfriend but she pushed him away. after he 'fell over' ( ;) ) they eventually went...came back into school and acused my girlfriend of picking him up by tie and swinging him around in the air.... the parent came in believing their child was in the right!

thinking of school a bit more, it really is disapline that is required. nothing too difficult, just disapline, and actually saying no to them once in a while.

Tried to exterminate a **** that threw an egg at my windscreen a few weeks ago ....with my car ....I missed ...not by much .....wont miss next time and his friends have been asked to tell him..........funny how they now walk away from me and keep right out of my face isnt it

They say a proper school uniform would help but 'poor' families would claim they couldn't afford it.

I've been places in Africa where families live under bits of tin and wear rags, yet their children always go to school in uniform else they wouldn't let them go. They also spend more on excercise books and pencils for their kids than on food for themselves.

DISCIPLINE

Yes. And also for the parents; discipline them into disciplining the kids. Was slight progress locking that batty woman up last year for her kid playing truant. They need to take responsibility for the messes they bring up. Or don't bring up, as the case is...

always wondered what would happen to the amount of non-attenders should people's benefits be cut if their kid was off school...
