Info on some switches

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an issue with the centre console cigar socket when I have a USB device plugged in, the adaptors keep sliding upwards and it is never a good 100% connection.

So I am looking at putting in a more suitable  set of connections for usb.

1) I have a couple of spare switch places in the centre consol (next to my off-road and ESP button), so I think I might put a USB socket into one of the place switch covers for the passenger to use.

Question. How easy are these plastic switch covers to remove? Do they just pry out or do I need to remove some part of the centre console first?

2) I am looking for a suitable place on the drivers side to place 2 usb sockets (one for camera, the other for phone) up by the window vent on the dashboard but there is no real flat surface to put one and I don't want to cut a hole in the dash. Does anyone have a solution that they have done on their Yeti

3) Differnet question now, are additional switches available for the centre console that can be brought as I might want to add some additonal equipment that will need on/off switches.

Thanks

This on here should hep to remove switch blanks.

How about fitting a USB socket in the tray on top of the dash like some have done?
It's then easy to wire up with a USB power supply and piggy back fuse holder in the fuse box.

Something like this maybe?

Urrell, thanks for the docs, that blanking switch cover is quit meaty looking, I just thought it might be a flat plate type but it has a few ribs in.

Great Yeti, Thanks for the pic. Is that yours? If so hoiw did you get the witres from there to the fuse box, is it as easy just pushing a cable through behind the dash from the top tray to the fuse box? This is a nice solution as I only just the tray for my sunglassess. How does the tray close with the usb cable say to the phone come out of the tray, i expcect it require a thin cable else a groove would hve to to made

A not too well known about section of Briskoda, the "Skoda Yeti Technical Guides" (LINK) is the source of much knowledge. Yes the picture is of mine, and as to how I did it, well it's all here (LINK) in the aforementioned section under "Skoda YETI - Sat-Nav installation".

You will see on the picture that there is a switch which controls power to the USB sockets and the other "standard" type power socket. The LED shows green (matching the colour of the skoad illumination) when the switch is on. The whole thing is powered from an ignition controlled circuit.

Hope it helps............Tony
