Baby seat

Featured Replies

Was 5 or so years ago, but the Maxi Cosi IsoFix performed best in the Which consumer magazine crash tests so that's the one we used and it was pretty good.

IsoFix ones seem to perform best in the crash tests at all sizes from what I have read, but the bigger the kid the smaller the difference

If you read which currently, the pros and cons of each are fairly even, assuming both installed correctly. Interning point to note is that the force transmitted to the passenger is higher in isofix as its all direct transmission unlike a seatbelt which either pretensions or has give in it.

My daughter started out in the Silver Cross 3D travel system, easy to lift off the pram and then belted in with the car seat.  No isofix used on this but once you learnt using the car seatbelt it was a doddle, plus really secure despite not using the isofix (I found isofix systems bulky but using the seatbelt equally secure, i is personal choice IMO. I do see the benefits however)

From since our daughter was tall and heavy enough, around 16 months for her, she was moved into a Britax Evolva 1-2-3 which covers all groups (hence the name) she is now 5 and a half and will be in this until she is big enough for no seat at all.  Again this uses the car seat belt for fixing in (bit fiddly, but secure once mastered) and they use the seats own built in belts.  She has been big enough since over a year ago to now sit in it and use the cars seatbelt.  Makes it really easy to move from car to car if needed now.

*Keep them rear facing as much as possible, we managed it until our daughter was about 16 months which was a result given she is quite tall.  Some people turn them around at 9 months!

Had a silver cross baby seat to start that was meant to last 12 months. It lasted seven. After huge research we bought this. Best function is it swivels to put little one in. And once he's big enough we can forward face him with an easy two chick pad.

We are very happy with the Maxi Cosi 2way Pearl. Bit pricey but can be used for a long time and very good safety ratings.

Also very easy to use, easy to clean materials...stands everyday wear very well.

It also conforms to the latest "i-size" norm.
