Color availability

Featured Replies

Hi.

Wonder if anyone have the insight on why the Superb owners in the Czech Republic can chose between 50-60 more color options for their car than the rest of Europe?

The Colour Police at VW headquarters I guess.

Or more likely the UK's heavy dependence on Fleet Sales who don't want Tangerine or Purple Cars on their books as they might be a problem to sell after the lease has ended  :(

So not only do private buyers seemingly have to supplement the heavy fleet discounts, they also get shafted on personalising their expensive car :)

Czech is Skoda "home" country too.

I suppose the demand for "fun" colours would be so small that Skoda/local service centres can't justify supplying/stocking the paints.

Even here in Prague, excluding the yellow taxis, 99.9% of S3 I've seen so far are black/grey/silver/white. The remaining 0.1% are cappuccino/solid red/lava blue.

Annoying isn't it? I liked Sea Blue.

I can understand the economics of not offering endless options across the markets but it's frustrating alright looking at the Czech configurator. I think I counted something like 86 colour choices.

Can someone put up a link please to the Czech configurator, my phone keeps going back to the UK one

Oh, what a choice of colours, I wish that was available when I was ordering, incredible. This is such a shame that all the colours are not universally available. :(

But have you noticed that Sportline has only 8 colour options?!? Then again, they do have Sportline, as all the rest of us...

Well I have Cappuccino as a colour, SHMBO said she liked it , must admit I like too. Looks rather classy on the Superb with the cream interior and  perforated leathe( L & K 280 )

Every one who has seen it says it looks the DBs, why it's  not popular in the UK I don't know? I am glad, as it makes mine quite exclusive

I don't think that this is a manufacturer issue, but rather the Importer. I wonder if Skoda UK are a separate business from the actual manufacturer, even if they might be called: "Skoda UK"

Have to agree. Had the Mk2 Superb Estate in Cappuccino Beige and thought it looked pretty classy.

Indeed a vast number of colours available but nearly all are ghastly, I m o of course. Just goes to show that colour can make or break a car?

Agree, I was only getting the red because it was the best of a bad selection in my opinion.

I spec'd a Sportline Combi in bright yellow yesterday!

Rubbish selection, like a 1960s TV, black, white or various shades of grey.

Another thread has indicated what manufacturers really want is to rent you a car, so it can be resold (on expensive finance) and make another profit. I've heard dealers explain the boring colours are easier to resell (presumably compared to colours they don't have available to sell ?) confirms the theory that not trying to sell you a car that you will keep for years.

Interestingly Audi have decided cars aimed at younger age group like its new Q2 shall be bright colours, not greys (per Geneva launch statements), so I assume this implies Skoda colours are for old fuddy duddies

I've been surprised how much I like Magnetic Brown Metallic and with the Beige Leather interior it looks really classy, have received numerous positive comments on the colour combination and the car in general.

Very pleased to be different from the crowd.

I think it's the target market for the vehicle - looking at similar sized vehicles e.g. Audi A6, BMW 5 Series et al - all the colours are drab and boring. One of the reasons why I chose red.

Audi's colour pallete on the A6 is a lovely mix of grey and silver, in varying shades.

Of course! Why would they want to sell you a car that you'll keep for 10 years, when they can sell you a new car every 3 years...
