Safe Tyre Kit

Featured Replies

Hi Folk

Just taken delivery of 2013 Octy III 2.0 TDi Elegance. Loving it so far, traded my 2006 Ambiente so it's a nice upgrade.

One thing I'm not too happy with is the lack of a spare wheel. I've been looking around online and note that the kit is available as an accessory. I'm wondering what size I need? The car has 17 inch wheels on it. Does that mean I need 17 inch spare?

Best would be to have it same as other wheels. In real life it's a bit difficult though. I have 18" summer set and 16" for winter. My spare wheel is 16 with summer tyre so a bit of both worlds ;)

It's only to be used short-distance if needed anyway, so I wouldn't complicate it too much.

My suggestion here would be rather on what you get as a tool-kit. Skoda would charge you a lot for a dedicated set, in meantime you can get a decent (but used) set from other VAG car at e.g. known auction site.

Paul my spare for my 17" factory fitted is a 16" steel rim with a 205/r16/55

Thanks folks. I'll look into options for a 16 inch spare I think. Good tip on the tool kit too.

My '15 Scout came with no spare so I just use one of my winter wheels, 205/55r16. Also there was no Jack, I went to the dealer and bought a kit, which comprised of Jack, Wheel brace and the foam holder that fits within the spare wheel all for £45 inc VAT

I got a brand new wheel for my Elegance from Tyreleader.co.uk last August, just under £27. 205/65x16 tyre - just under £30. I wasn't bothered about having a premium tyre as it was only for use in case of a puncture and I'd be limited to 50mph anyway. Your local tyre guys would probably fit it for beer money. (I used to - I was a tyre guy in my younger days!)

Tyre and wheel were both dispatched from Germany and arrived in 4 days.

Hi Paul

I've just picked up a 63 plate 2.0 Elegance Estate and have the same issue regards lack of spare wheel. Am looking round for the best options and was wondering if you sorted out a spare & kit.

Have seen a set or 17" Teron alloys (225/45 R17 91W) on ebay, but don't need 4. Would you be interested in going halves?

The only thing I am unsure of is whether a full size alloy will fit in the wheel well?

I think those wheels are advertised on this forum - see Wheels and Tyres for sale.

The subject of full size spares fitting the well has also been discussed on here somewhere and the consensus was that they may raise the boot floor by approx. 13mm. So nothing to worry about.

I'd be interested in one!

Sorry to jump in but I'm the one trying to sell the Teron alloys on Briskoda and Ebay. Obviously I would prefer to sell the wheels on Briskoda to save the PayPal and Ebay fees. However, I would only sell them as a set of four.

I'm in Essex - a long way from the Wirral !

I wonder if you guys did purchase the Teron wheels and split them up, I've been searching for one to replace a wheel that has been kerb damaged (not by me, was like it when I bought it). Thanks

Ditto. I'm after a single Teron alloy too.

They seem like hens teeth unless you get a new one, and then they cost a fortune! Goodness knows why they are so expensive! Considering a holiday to the Czech republic to get one!

My dealer does a spare wheel , tyre and tool kit for 160.
