New Superb Disaster and disappointment

Featured Replies

The Dealers offer of £1000 refund was also shockingly poor, especially considering the TDI 150 costs £1850 less than the TSI 220 in the first place.

You deserve to get the car you ordered, no excuse.

But isn't the whole DPF thing a little overblown now?

An easy mistake to make but with a sickening impact on you. Be understanding of the mistake but firm in fighting for what you want.

How is it an easy mistake to make? This is bread and butter stuff and if you're going to put an order in to the factory for thousands of pounds worth of car, check and double check, and then check again.

It's a total fail on the part of the dealer and they should be bending over backwards to make sure the OP isn't inconvenienced. Plus, the culprit should be losing any bonus he was due and sent on a six-week training course in Tipton. That'll focus the mind

Update on the car problem........... We are now driving the incorrect diesel car until a new factory order petrol car comes which could be 12 weeks.

Skoda customer services said that they could not speed the factory build up.

The dealers did initially say we had to start our payments as per the hp agreement  agreed on the correct new car and then stop them when the petrol car arrives and do a new agreement. However we objected to this as we would be paying a part balance off a car we never ordered which also inferior to what we wanted in terms of engine and price. Now they have agreed that when the correct car arrives it will be a new agreement shortened by the three months we will have paid whilst waiting and driving the diesel.

We also got them to throw in the LED lighting package for free as an apology since my wife liked them on the car we initially borrowed, but in hindsight I think we should have asked for more.

Nothing we can do but wait now I guess.

To be fair, not a bad outcome...very nice free car for 3 months, and a little extra to boot.

Hope you enjoy your new car when it arrives!

Sounds like a positive outcome in the end. I'm sure the right car will be worth the extra wait!

Fair play to you for not naming and shaming a dealership which seems to be trying very hard to recoup costs from you despite the mistake of one of its inattentive staff members

Hassle for sure but it would appear they are trying.

Warranted or not the sales guy is probably going to be in for a disiplinary and/or punishment. Right or wrong he might have just had a bad day or mind elsewhere due to anything, who knows.

It good to hear that it all ended well. When you go to pick the petrol one up you should tell them that you have changed your mind and you want to keep the diesel just to see their reaction.

Yeh I think the dealership came through in the end, I don't think the DPF problem is overblown as our previous Octavia was doing regen a lot due to all my wife short hops in the car and it would have been a matter of time before it had serious problems as a few other people have mentioned to me.

The only thing we know we will take a hit on is the fuel consumption on the 220 TSI Superb, but I guess it will be better than paying for a new DPF. Has anyone got any true experience of the fuel consumption for the 220 tsi ?

It is good to hear that the OP has got a fair outcome. It could be a lot worse

I know that when the Mk 3 Octavia was launched here in Australia a couple of years ago that at least two people on local forums suffered similar dealer order stuff-ups.

The rectified order delivery time was naturally a lot longer and the 'compensation' offers from the dealers and Skoda Aus were derisory.

One of them is also contributor to this forum and if I remember rightly his original dealer went bankrupt causing all sorts of angst, and when the car finally arrived, and in the docks pre-delivery, it was threatened by incredibly destructive golf ball sized hailstone storms that hit his area. Luckily they missed his car. It was close on a year from his original order placement.

OK, you're talking about a Superb in the Octavia section. But my Octy 220 DSG vRS has given between 31.8 and 41.3 mpg per tankful over 3500 miles, 35.2 overall. Fair mix of urban stop/start, fast and slow B-roads and Mway thrashing (M62 end to end on Sunday). The previous 1.4TSi DSG gave 41.5 over similar conditions. I'm happy with the 220 drinking habits.

Maybe ask on the Superb section...?

Cheeky buggers.

I remember back when I ordered my MK2 FL vRS and I had sold my current car privately a lot quicker than I anticipated - the dealer really kindly put me in one of their pool cars for 6 weeks while I waited for mine to arrive, so they can do it.

vtec, which dealer was this if you don't mind saying? I note that you're around my neck of the woods.

Silbury in Cramlington mate - really good bunch of guys there.

I used to be, now living in London...just haven't bothered to update this!

I asked because I thought it might be - sounded like something they'd do! I've been very impressed with them.

Anyway I've totally veered this thread off topic now, sorry lads

The absolute cheek asking you pay extra months for their muck up.

Well done for sticking to your guns, the car is prob the 2nd most expensive purchase why don't the dealerships appreciate this and not treat you like you have jus bought a cheap TV :-(.

At the end of the day mistakes happen, like posting a Superb issue on the Octavia forum!!! lol

Your dealer has sorted the issue, shame they did not just apologise on the day and ask how they could make you happy, but don't let this experience spoil you new car.
