Rear Wash problems

Featured Replies

I'd like to do that too - can anyone tell me exactly where the iffy pipe connection is and what you have to remove to look at it? [Elegance Hatch model]

starter for 10 is that the Near side boot panel was removed to work on mine and it's behind there that it's wet

I was led to believe that the pipe runs along the headlining on passengers side and the joint is above the rear 1/4 light trim behind rear passengers head. The water p*sses down to boot floor, that's why boot loadspace trim was removed. If your rear wiper gives up, get someone to operate it and listen for water running down the 1/4 light trim.

Dealer told me he's glued pipe back on to barbed connector in the past with some success. I'm not sure that a pipe clamp will work as pipe is relatively hard and may distort and leak rather than conform to connector. Any successes out there?

Basically, don't use your rear screen washer when it's very cold outside!

The Octy I did something like this too IIRC.

My dealer fitted a modified part for something to do with the rear wiper but ii forget what exactly.

I think what may have caused the pipe to disconnect was the back pressure in the system when the weather turned and the rear jet was blocked for a while. So when I used the rear wash' date=' the ice caused a blockage thus increasing pressure in the pipe and causing the joint to eventually fail.

Does that sound reasonable to anyone????[/quote']

Yep, similar thing happened on my Focus estate. Very cold, tried to get the rear washer going, repeated attempts failed and eventually the back pressure forced the pipe to blow off the joint. Difference on the Foci was that the pool of water formed in the roof panel, just before the tailgate...

Can someone clarify something for me? are we talking about the Octavia Hatch here mkII??? I can hear the rear motor wiring when I try it but havent had any water since I bought it and couldn't see a jet so just assumed it didn't have a one.... I take it I was incorrect and my rear washer is actually broken?????

Yes the hatch does have a wash, you will probably have quite a damp boot by now.
