Carista - an iOS alternative to OBDeleven?

I tried it - it is crap, does not do anything of what it is supposed to do. OBDeleven is way better, specially for our cars.

I was thinking of getting Carista, had heard Ok things about it...you do have to buy the paid version of the software as well as the dongle to do anything interesting though

but from what ive fouind elewhere it still seems limited in what it can do

I'm not an Octavia owner, but, as an OBD2 code reading tool, it is okay, if your car is listed as being supported for "customising" then you will be able to change some options, it is available as an IOS app, you can buy the Carista dongle and if using it with IOS you can use it as bluetooth while leaving your IOS device's WiFi free to email a report back to your wireless printer etc.

 

I have VCDS, so buying Carista for me was only to get hold of a simple scan tool to read probably just engine fault codes when "out on the road" as my Gendan VAG scan tool had run out of life in as much as it now did not support any of my cars.

 

The way that Carista is going, but slowly and changing its pricing structure annoys a lot of people, certainly if you like to change some selectable options in your car, but are concerned about messing around deeply with VCDS etc, then this is the simple way to do things, I probably most annoyed by tehtime it takes them to update it to cover newer models, for instance for customising Polo cover stops at 2014, we are now half way through 2016!

I used Carista on iOS via a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle and it worked ok, on a 20-3 fabia. I used the paid version and changed a few settings. It's not a 'malicious' site to my knowledge, I had no problems. Pop over to the Fabia ll forum, plenty of info there

They have updated the Carista application now for the Octavia.  I had it for the Fabia and just tried it out.  Works.

I didn't end up buying the thing in the end, but this seems like it may be worth a second look now.

 

I wonder what the two methods for the Start/Stop disable are? I don't use it 99% of the time, but I would like the option, so a fix to make the current on/off state persist through an ignition cycle would be great as opposed to just disabling it all together.

Looks very limited compared to what can be done with OBD Eleven. Least Carista actually works to do tweaks on the MK3 now. Tried a couple of months ago with mine and a friend's 5F Leon and couldn't do anything.
