Finally get to pick my S3 2.0 Tdi 190 DSG L&K up on 14th July.

6 months is a long wait lol

I've gone for business grey (yes I'm boring).

I'm pretty certain it's a MY16.

It's going to be a long two weeks....

Nothing wrong with Business Grey :)

Is that 6 months from ordering?

Any idea what took so long - I was told that sunroof can add a few weeks, and have been given an estimate now on 3 months' delivery if ordered now.

I think it is that the car is selling far better than Skoda planned for and they need all of the parts suppliers to ramp up their production to be able to cope.

Mine was one of the first ordered (in the UK) and took just 7 weeks, but the delays started to go up rapidly within a few weeks after that and 6 months was not unusual.

Skoda have been using that excuse since at least 2010 when I got my first Superb. They repeated it to me in 2015 when I ordered an Octavia (and cancelled after they said it'd gone from a 2 month to 8 months plus wait), and again when I ordered our Superb 220. You'd think they'd have some idea as to popularity by now...

I've heard rumours that 2 options which cause heavy delays are Beige interior and the 280ps motor... both of which i've gone for (sigh).  As for the Business Grey, I'm with you... it might be 'boring' but it looks nice IMO and having owned a car in a similar colour before it is definitely one of the easiest colours to keep clean

Ditto...

Mine is Business Grey, looks great!

Yep

I was told the same.

The salesman spend a lot of time talking us out of beige interior. At the time we didn't know but once I discovered this site, I saw that there was a real shortfall of beige interior colour, causing delays.

Same with the 280 engine.

I received an email from the dealer a couple of days ago that it will hit shore on the 17th this months (I already knew that), and it then would take around 10 days for delivery....Ouch.

Didn't think it would take that long, but apparently it's a custom release delay.

So far that adds about a week to the expected delivery, but still a lot quicker then expected initially.

Me and my wife have got a boat cruise coming up in September and booked a flight to and from to Brisbane from the Mid North Coast, as I didn't think we would have the car yet by late September.

Unfortunate we had to pre-pay the flight. Would love to have taken the car up and back.

I ordered a 2.0tdi se business estate and it took 7 months to the day from order to delivery, although it was more likely just over 6 months but the leasing company we use will only release the car on the first of the month. Must say well worth the wait though

When did you order? I too am amazed at how much time they take to get from the docks to delivery. Our Mazda took 2 weeks!

Was ordered by the dealer on the 11-04-2016

I ordered 10 days after you... Maybe our cars are on the same boat!  Have you been advised if its MY16 or 17 spec?

Mine will be MY16

Interesting. Mine was apparently ordered on 12 April yet was flagged as a week 32 build.

I have no idea what mine will be, I'm leaving it as a surprise. I'm. Not fussed either way but I would like the TV just for showing off.

I ordered my 280 hp LK Estate (sunroof) on the 12 of june and the dealer foresaw built this week (31). He still says this week but not to be confirmed. What do you think that I can expect? Anyone heard anything of known delays?

The build week seems to be a combination of a lot of factors... I guess engine/body style/colour/trim colour/options. You, me and Alf01 seem to all have ordered very close together (you and him April 12, mine April 21 yet yours has been flagged as week 32 build, Alf01 already has his and mine is apparently built but on the docks awaiting transport (though the dealer seems to be unable to provide me with a VIN as yet). Alf01 just snuck in as MY16, mine is (apparently) a MY17 and there was only 9 days between us ordering.

Seems Skoda logistics are not overly logical...
