Sound generator vs. loudspeaker

Featured Replies

Hi,  Just curious, no major problems

I read topics here which refer to the 'sound generator'. What is it, and how does it differ from a loudspeaker?

The front dashboard has a perforated area at the centre,  just beneath the windscreen. Is there a speaker here ?

Just curious

Isn't the sound generator the way the VRS uses the sound system of the car to loop back an amplified sound from the exhaust?

Nah, it's a speakery/resonatory thingamajig that sits in the middle of the plenum chamber and makes artificial induction roar noises....and draws your (my) attention to things inside the dash that wouldn't otherwise rattle.  I don't use sport mode any more - at least not until I've had the bloody thing de-barked  :dull:

The grille in the dashboard is for the centre speaker if you have the Canton stereo upgrade.
