Where is the filler cap for adblue on my yeti

Featured Replies

I *think* Adblue is mainly water anyway ? Might be wrong.

67.5% right

""What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® is a clear liquid made up of 32.5% urea (which comprises carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen

and 67.5% demineralised water. In the SCR process this solution reacts with and neutralises nitrogen oxides (NOx).""

I did wonder whether the car would actually know if you just poured water in...

A very good question.

I just topped up our Superb for the first time.

Took all of a minute or two, hardly any longer than filling up the washers, and at £13 for 6000 miles motoring it's probably cheaper than screenwash too.

I wouldn't call that a lot of hassle and expense ?

It's slightly more hassle in the Yeti due to the positioning of the tank and it being prudent to use a bottle that screws on rather than just a hose as per cars with the filler behind the fuel flap.

But once you have carried it out for the first time it's no real problem afterwards. And given that most Yetis don't do big annual mileages you don't have to do it that often either.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

I was looking for something along those lines when I recently refilled mine.

I kept unscrewing the top off the smaller bottle and refilling from a 10 litre container but that is a better option.

I take it that the hose has the automatic stop when the tank is full?

I suspect it's that plastic inner breather pipe.

Thinking that when the tank fills to that it stops the flow as no more air can transfer from the tank to container but it will leave enough room for what's still in the hose.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

Yes it stops the flow when full. I suggest after unscrewing it from the yeti, still hold the pipe above the container then unscrew it and let the contents of the pipe drain back into it, I rested it on the floor when unscrewing and the contents drained onto my drive! It didn't leak any into the yeti aperture which I was more worried about though.

Or as Urrell sensibly says (DOH!) next time I'll try unscrewing from the container first and letting the pipe drain into the tank. I'll let you know in 4000ish miles!

Slightly off topic but do Octavia's (2016 2.0 TDi 184ps) need Ad blue? Nobody mentioned it in the sales bit or vehicle handover and the manual is not accessible for me to read and check!

Thanks, I ordered one earlier.

I shall bear your comments in mind when I next refill mine.
