Featured Replies

Anyone got experience with the replacement ??

I cannot get rid of the infotainment error message .

The vcds adaptations don't seem to work .

aki78 has done the replacement on his. I don't think he posted detailed instructions, but I think he accessed the rear of the bulb fitting by taking off the mud cover below the engine.

Link to H11 LED modules. I think H11 and H8 are quite similar, minus a tab or two.

nitro2,

Are you sure you have changed the correct adaptation channels?

The LED lights linked by mabnz are working fine with the coding below:

Leuchte12NL LB45-Lasttyp 12 from 10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer to 43 - allgemeine LED
Leuchte13NL RB5-Lasttyp 13 from 10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer to 43 - allgemeine LED

This is an universal coding for low/high consumption LEDs.

I have no bulb out warning on dash.

Had mine coded by xPower, all worked fine since without any error messages.

If unsure you could contact him as he is a master at all things lighting.

Thanks for all answers ,

regarding ;

Leuchte12NL LB45-Lasttyp 12 from 10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer to 43 - allgemeine LED
Leuchte13NL RB5-Lasttyp 13 from 10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer to 43 - allgemeine LED

But i have tried all kind of settings , led 6w led 12 w ............................

The error remains.

The led units I have bought are " guaranteed can- error free " , which is a quote anyone can give to his products of course.

I mailed the supplier , and hope he will be able to shine a light on the matter.

( I have changed licenseplate lamps to ledlight without problems , so vcds is working ).

Any suggestions are welcome.

Stop wasting money on so called CANBUS friendly rubbish would be my advice. They will have a resistor in them to simulate the load of an incandescent bulb, so if you change the adaptations to LED it will throw an error as the controller is seeing way too much current being drawn.

Thanks andyvee ,

I will change the adaptation back to normal lamp , and see if the errors will disappear .

In that case indeed the ledlights are can-bus errorfree ;-) ( it is just the way of thinking )

keep you posted.

back to normal lamp-settings does not clear the errors.

supplier uses a special detergent to wash his hands.................. :-)

Have you cleared the errors from controller 09 with VCDS?

If you don't they tend to not go away by themselves .......

If you have then these bulbs are not very canbus friendly.

If I've said it once on here, I must have said it a hundred times, just buy normal LED bulbs and code the car. CANBUS friendly are a replacement BCM waiting to happen .........

What is the actual power of your LEDs?

In my experience '43 - allgemeine LED' should be ok up to 35 W (real) power.

I coded mine before changed the original H8 bulbs and had no errors on dash...

Can you provide a link to your LEDs?

i think it is indeed the resistor value ( load value ) in my led lights which causes the system to generate errors .

I have tested all possibilities in vcds  , and always error .

has anyone a schematic for such a led lamp , so i can take the load resistor out of the lamp ??

@ andyvee , thanks for all your input

@aki78 , win10 upgrade crashed my pc , so the link needs to be searched ..........

The LEDs aren't your issue, to prove it recode your BCM for "LED licht module" on those channels and then fit in your standard bulbs.

You'll find that won't bring up an error..........

The issue is the BCM not accepting the adaptation changes, even though they are displayed as they have been changed.

I've had it before, and it took some playing to get it to work.

Ps Andy is right - you ideally don't want "canbus friendly"

My friend told me about those lights that they need to have resistor on them and then you don't get any error messages on dash.

Your friend is wrong. That won't work for most modern cars and "CANBUS friendly" LEDs are a disaster waiting to happen.

Can someone provide a link to a suitable H8 LED bulb that does not have the resistor and requires coding - thanks.

The real problem is indeed "canbus error-free" , if you can GET the normal versions and adapt with vcds .

All other led's i installed in my my2016 estate work without problems ( and they are all normal instead of those can-bus-error-free-stuff ) .

Does anyone have inside info on the resistor value which does trigger the detectionsystem to fail ( so i can change the value in the lights ) ??

Can someone provide a link to a suitable H8 LED bulb that does not have the resistor and requires coding - thanks.

2nd post (by @mabnz), you have the link to H8/H11 Foglight LEDs lots of us on Briskoda are using and I havent't seen a bad review yet - they're great. You need 4300K version if you want to match them with xenons. I have 5000K version, was lucky to catch them on discount for 27 €.
