DE-ACTIVATING THE ALARM

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.  Is there anybody out there can tell me how to de-activate my alarm when I have got my 2 dogs locked inside.  Once again the drivers manual is useless, it tells you how to de-activate it and activate it but it doesn't tell you how to do it if you have got dogs inside.  My car is a 2011 Yeti.  Hoping for some good advice that can be understood easily.

A double press on the fob within 2 seconds when locking or there is a button at the bottom of the drivers "B" pillar that deactivates the interior monitoring and movement sensor for that one locking the same as the double press on the fob.

Doesn't that disable the deadlocking?

Doesn't that disable the deadlocking?

Yes as well as the interior monitoring. I think he would be ok though unless the dogs can use the door handles.

page 57 in the 2016 manual.

Page 34 in the (Nov) 2011 drivers manual:

Safe Securing

The central locking system is equipped with a safe securing system. Locking the vehicle from the outside causes the door locks to be automatically blocked. The warning light flashes for around 2 seconds in quick succession, afterwards it begins to flash evenly at longer intervals. It is not possible to open the doors with the door handle either from the inside or from the outside. This acts as an effective deterrent for attempts to break into your vehicle.

You can deactivate the safe securing system by locking twice within 2 seconds.

If the safe securing system is not operating, the warning light in the driver door
flashes for about 2 seconds fast, goes out and starts to flash evenly at longer intervals after about 30°seconds.

The safe securing system is again activated the next time the vehicle is unlocked and locked again. If the vehicle is locked and the safe securing system is deactivated, you can open
the vehicle from the inside by pulling on the door opening lever. The door is unlocked and opened at the same time.

If the dogs are gated or caged in the back, would they need the alarm disabled?

I would imagine the insurance company would take a dim view.

you would have to partially disable it - the motion sensor would pick up internal movement hence using the b pillar button!

Just checked mine. Double blip and the doors can still be opened from the inside. Use the button on the B pillar and lock as normal and doors can't be opened from inside or outside.

As another dog owner one of my few niggles with the Yeti is that I can't set the sunroof to autoclose if it rains but leave the windows partially down - which would be useful if I need to leave the dogs in the car and there's a risk of a shower. Its everything closes or nothing although I believe this is something that might be tweaked in VCDS

roof shut, windows cracked that would work with the b pillar button - i use it that way, but do not havea sunroof!

Exactly as it should work.
