First service

Featured Replies

Had my cars first service yesterday at 18401 miles, had it done at my mates garage using all genuine parts and it cost me £135. Skoda said it only needed an oil and filter and an inspection! I had all the filters changed and the oil obviously. Don't even wanna know how much skoda would've charged just for an oil change!

Next service will be at 28.5k and will get oil and filter, brake fluid and coolant as if my toledo is anything to go by I'll be due a full set of pads around 28k.

Parks of Hamilton charge less than Skoda National Pricing, but then they are not doing much and the Service Desk staff only know a bit more than Gordon is a Moron, so not much really.

Skoda charge £149.

For that you get a visual inspection of brake, tyres, bulbs etc. oil, oil filter a scan for faults, software updates, wash, vac and a stamp in the book...

Isn't this if it's only on fixed servicing though?

Will first service on variable be £269?

It all depends on the customer and the dealer.

Whether on variable or fixed, the first service is oil and oil filter.

All other items (air, fuel and pollen filters) are not required until at least 3 years old or 60,000 miles.

Take the car in and ask for an oil and filter change for £149 and save yourself £130.

Mine was on 12 month fixed. I just reset the service indicator so will be done just before its 2 year anniversary.

Was told would be £269 ish though as it'll be a long life service?

See my recent post, only a virtual stamp in the book as theyve done away with the hardcopy service record

I get a full visual inspection etc as well as my mate is very thorough, I don't have a book to stamp and I'm not a snob for dealership servicing so a Skoda stamp doesn't bother me, my toledo was only serviced by seat because I got 2 free services, if I hadn't had them it would've been straight to my mates for its services.

A con, I don't know how the dealer sleeps at night.

The two year service is identical to the one year service i.e. an oil and filter change.

The rest is just fluffy marketing.

You might get an £8 pollen filter if you are lucky.

If it wasn't in lease it would be a mate doing it or local Indy.
