0-100 in 7.35...how it sounds ??

Featured Replies

Last Saturday me and some friends did a performance measurement of our cars ..... we had an AP22 performance meter ( http://www.race-technology.com/WebPage/Products/Accelerometer/PerformanceMeterIntro.html ) with us and here are the results of my second measurement (the first one wasnt that good :? ):

Peak G: 27.4kph---1.32s--0.004km---0.76g

Do u think its any good??

Remember that i have a 4x4 chiped by ABT.....

Thank you 8)

Sounds about right, I've done some very rough timings with the stopwatch and got 7.2 repeatedly, and thats hitting start, flooring it and then hitting the stopwatch again, that was in the wet.

I have a Jabbsport remapped 4x4 estate - 222bhp, 231 lb ft torque.

Need to do some more sessions in the dry.

Looks pretty quick to me...

By 160kph id be 4 seconds behind!

& I'd be near enough 4 seconds ahead! Unless it was wet!

The AP22 wasnt mine , but the guy told me that he ordered it from their site .... you can find the link in the first post..... we tested 7 cars 2 or 3 times ..... at 2 occasions the AP22 stopped the measurement at 140 and 150 kph (dont know why) and in on e occasion the readings where crasy (an A3 chiped by MTM showed 0-100 16 sec and 0-160 about 33........

Last time mine was timed for 0-100km I got the following times:

1. 6.21, ASR off

2. 6.05, ASR on

3. 5.98, ASR on

4. 6.03, ASR on

5. 6.13, ASR off

6. 5.99, ASR on

7. 6.01, ASR off

8. 5.97, ASR off

The 0-160 time was guessed from the timed runs at Santapod. There I did standing 1/4 mile in 14.2 at 101mph, IIRC. I've got the slips for my 3 runs at Santa Pod somewhere

I've only done this sort of thing twice as its not really that good for the car.

What mods do you have?

They're bloody quick times for a FWD - I want the same mods as you please......

LOL!

Mine is approx 150kg lighter than yours (ie 30bhp more 'cos 5kg = 1bhp), its got at least 228bhp and 242lb/ft torque. I only need 1 gear change to get to 100kmh, 2 to get to 160kmh. Turbo is/was running 14.9 PSI. Tyres were P Zero Nero, 225/45 ZR 17, pressure for track is 33.5 at the front, 38 at the rear.

Anything else?

If I run beside my car while accelerating 0-100 I gain 15hp! :D

15bhp? is that all? I gain 22! :(

I'll start tuning my car with pizza! :stupid:

Track days are fine though 8)

Me? Trackday? Never! ;)

Well ithey aren't as bad as standing qtr mile stuff, probably due to the fact that you don't do them with the handbrake on! ;)

George (Fast&Safe) hi! I' ll join the Briskoda forum from now on, as I was joining the vwvortex-Octavia in the past.

Congratulations for your performance measurements  . I think you can do even better at 7sec or less easily  .

I think that launcing is very crucial for 0-100km/h timings, and if you lose the less at start (less wheelspin very importnat-although you have 4x4 and this is not a major problem) and the tarmac if of good quality. As I've told you in the past I've done (in tarmac of excellent grip) 6.7sec for 0-100, but with only one person in the car (myself only), 1/2 fuel tank, and something about 30kg additional load in the car. My times are much more variable than yours since mine is 2WD.

Another think I would like to ask you is with the AP22 Performance Meter that you used, you showed power (hp) values at various speeds. This is I guess corresponding to wheel power, and the 193hp at 81.4 kph is an excellent figure. This means maximum power of 193hp at wheels :D , and if we consider about 12% losses through transmission-Haldex-etc, then you may well have about 215hp at the crank with just your ABT chip, which is impressive  . Are these wheel-power measurements accurate with the AP22 instrument??? Do you have any information on that?

Regards,

Chris

Another issue about 0-100 performances I'd like to ask all the guys in this thread, is which is the best way to launch the car?

I explain what I usually do and ask your opinion and your own technique:

Be in 1st gear raise revs at about 2500-3000 rpm (at max torque) and side step the clutch. Then when with 1st gear reach about 6000rpms (a bit above the car's maximum power) change to 2nd and accelarate until reaching 100km/h without changing to 3rd when at max power revs at about 5500-6000rpms.

Thanks for your views.

Chris

TaviaRS,

How did you manage to shave 150kg off ?

Steve

he got rid of the sump

I didn't buy the extra drive shafts and the haldex, or the plasic wood (I've got fake brush aluminium instead  ). The 150 was a guess, its probably only about 80-100.

I'm not too sure about the 80 - 100 kg weight difference, Jon. The 'book' kerb weight difference between vRS and 4x4 Estate is 125 kg. So you don't have side air bags, twin rear reading lights or roof rails, but did you specify electric sunroof and headlight washers, and have you fitted that ultimate status symbol for vRS owners - the leather centre armrest? And is your spare steel or a full size alloy? (I'm not going to mention all the coil packs in the boot..)

Damn, I was closer with my initial 150kg difference

No options fitted to my car other than the black paint, oh and I only have 1 spare coil pack in the boot. :P 'Tis a full size 17" spare though

A 17" spare coilpack? Blimey, I didn't think they were that big......... :?
