VCDS egr+turbo emergency

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I'm kind of new in the forum and I'm trying to find someone with VCDS. The problem is that on Saturday I'm going to replace the turbo but now I've just read that my turbo "limp mode" can be from EGR valve as well.

Please , please, anyone who can help as matter of urgency and scan my car especially the turbo and EGR valve? I'm located in East London and I can travel up to 50 miles and the car is Octavia 2, 1.9TDi, BKC, Automatic.

The problem with the car is when I get more than 50 miles per hour and trying to accelerate the turbo disappeared. Turn off and On the engine - turbos back. On Saturday (30.07.16) morning I need to be in the garage to replace the turbo....

Guys, Thanks in advance!

Have a look in the VCDS section, and at the members map there.

Then you'll see who might be nearby.

Wardy,

I saw it last night and sent PM to 2 guys. Unfortunately I've got allowance for 2 PM per day :( and i can't see any other contact details for the other guys.

You could do some visual inspection of the turbo and EGR.

First remove the engine cover and have a look at the EGR. It's the round metal bit top left of the engine in case you don't know:

Check for signs of any leaks from it. Then remove the pipe that attaches to the left of it (lift the clip up and pull the pipe off). Have a good look inside and see if it's clogged up:

Or clear (ish perhaps):

It's not fool proof way of testing but if it looks anything like the first picture you know it needs cleaning anyway.

Then you need to reach the turbo and try to move the actuator arm that goes into it. If it is very stiff or won't move then the turbo may be clogged and again just need cleaning. It's easier if you can jack the car up and support it then remove the under tray and you can see the turbo underneath. Also a good chance to look for oil leaks etc.

Thanks Phil,

I've read last night about the cleaning of EGR but I was hoping to know about EGR working or not if I plug it to the VCDS...

Also, update your own profile. Having location as 'United Kingdom' isn't that helpful, for VCDS guys to see how close they are to you...

Guys, thanks to all of you. I found a mate even close to my area who will help me tonight.

Thanks again!

Great stuff - best of luck with it.
