Hmm, wonder how it would cope with more power ie >290  being FWD?

I owned a new type r recently with trick front struts. That was 300hp and I felt it was struggling to put it down without mega wheel spinning. In the wet; any car could leave it in the lower gears without real restraint.

I think in standard for 290 would be perfect.

I could spin the wheels in my previous 140bhp 1.4TSi Octy. This is madness.

So the performs VAG hierarchy for its hatchback class is...

1. Audi S3

2. Golf R

3. Leon cupra

4. Octavia VRS

Top of list boasting more BHP and considerably more cost.

The s3 and R a work out same price only difference s3 has leather as standard but iirc £2000 dearer but add leather to an R and they are very close in price

Not 100% but our demo at work thats just been sold has full leather

Looks like on cupra 290 you can spec full black leather in trim but on cupra 290 black edition you can't use just get the Alcantara/leather buckets

Love a bit of Madness especially "My girls mad at me"

I think the Superb 280 4x4 would disagree with you....

It might not be a dedicated performance edition, but I bet it shifts just fine :)

Feels like a barge through the corners though, gets through the corner just, doesn't inspire any confidence

Alot of car for the money - nice alternative to the "thief magnet" Golf R's

What deposit ,over what period. What final payment value?

Its a lease...

Initial payment is 6x the monthly (just shy of 1500) and you just hand it back at the end of the two years, there is no option to buy.

That might be, but its still a powerful 4x4. Which was my point. Didnt say anything about how it corners :p

I think you're probably right, I'm on the 42 month 0% PCP that a lot of us jumped on back in Summer 2013. For about £30 more per month than I'm paying now, I can be in the BMW.

If buying them with money you can have £6,000 off a new Cupra 290 or near £4,000 off a Golf R.

If there were more Seat Cupra 280 or 290 out there they would be more of a theif magnet.

They are sitting in Main Dealerships compounds in the main.

Yet more sales disasters but lots of car for your not very much money.

Don't forget that the X-Drive loses out on the M Sport suspension so making it far too soft when trying to push it around corners! ;)

/shrugs I drive on the roads, not the track  :notme:

It may look a little disjointed due to another topic being merged with this one - from #36.

After toni8b posted a video of the 280 car, I thought it'd be nice to show one of the 290!  ;)

Interior of the Leon put me off when I was looking for a new car a few months back. Also memories of the zero sound deadening in an Ibiza I once had that drove me nuts.

I nearly went that road in May. Chassis contribution mean that a 335d was £400 cheaper than a 330d xd.

330d was comically fast for a derv, never got round to driving the 335dx since not many on the forecourt. Lovely cars though.

Not sure it's as bad as some beemer fanbois make out but the adaptive suspension is a £500 option and allegedly deals with it.

Have to agree with some of the other posts re the interior of the Seat.  Compared it with the full leather option and the interior still didn't feel as well put together as the Seat.  Space in the back seats was also a joke compared to the Octavia's.  In the end I decided I really didn't need to be able to go a second quicker 0-60, othewise I'd be scrapping two Dalmatians off the inside of the tailgate more often than not.  :D
