VRS rattle need help

Hi,

So,yes I have checked the hight ajuster and nothing there, I don't seem to have a simply clever bin in my door...

I noticed that the sound comes from passenger and driver side, maybe the door trims as suggested but how do they tighten it? And where ? I am french so can you confirm if by door trim you mean the door cover?

Lots of creaks/ticks now owing to the increase in ambient temperature in the UK.

Weird - mine does the opposite...as it gets colder and things contract I guess gaps grow and tightness eases and I get more rattles and buzzes. It is quieter in summer!

...and yes, I still have a few persistent rattles/buzzes which drive me nuts until I am at the dealer and then of course I can never replicate them.

i had a buzz from around the front mirror - ended up working out how to remove the casing around the mirror base and front camera and putting some padding around the wires coming forward from the headlining down towards the camera which has solved it

Yep, same here, I can never reproduce it at the dealer's. I will film it with my phone next time.

Thanks for the explanation for the mirror.

I have a box on the left side of the dash, when open I can stick my hand in it and feel the light switch cables, maybe the hit the box when closed.

Also I noticed I only have the rattle when the window is closed.

Well I was on a mountain road today and as usual rattle rattle rattle that seemed to be from the cluster. My girlfriend started searching and pin pointed the hard plastic cover under the stearing wheel. I pressed hard against it and the rattle stopped... I let go and it came back. The same thing with the hard plastic near the glove box. As soon as I have time I'll head to the dealer. I took an extra 2 years for the warranty sobI am ok :-)

How do you fix A pillars? Both of them on my car have a bit of movement when pressed.

Most of the people put paper or rubber between the pillar and the dash. I had my dealer put some thick tape in it but for my case it did not change anything. Even thougt the pillar move a bit, they aren't responsable for the rattle on my car

Do you have to remove the pillar plastics for this?

I had one from the NSF B-post seatbelt surround on my last vRS, which dealer fixed by putting foam behind.

New one has a worse rattle from the same place, which it'll be going back to the dealer for.

On my old one I had 'hollow rattle' from what I was sure was around the steering wheel/dashboard in that area, dealer put foam under dash top section but rattle still there. Just before I p/x'd it i traced it to the OSF A-post trim, if you tapped on it, you could hear the same noise.

Good luck finding the noise on yours !

Toni8b : yes you have to remove the pillar.

Cymru Blackline : these octavia's are real rattle boxes!!!

Toni8b : yes you have to remove the pillar.

Any instructions on that?

Innit!

The buzz on the passenger side and the rattle on the drivers side is driving me nuts and I can never bloody well reproduce them at the dealers. I need to drive around the area beforehand next time and find a nearby road surface that will replicate the issue every time.

For the driver side, I think I have two issue - one is the door card and one is the B-pillar/seatbelt adjuster.

On the passenger side, I went into the fuse access port and cable-tied/taped every bit of loose wire and plastic I could find and that didn't fix it. I can only surmise it is again either the door or one of the pillars...

Sigh. Car is so close to being what I want it to be...just those few last issues with refinement I need to resolve. At least I still have 2.5 years of warranty to resolve it!

I also thought about the b pillar but it wasn't it. Try presssing hard on the plastic cover under the stearing that goes down to the pedals. It stopoed the rattle when I did so. I will try removing the side covers, I suspect the metal clips to be mooving.

Same problem, got it fixed!

I have a 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS, rattling in the driver's door when car was doing 1800 to 2000 rpm, in any gear, even in neutral. (Right door as this is a right hand drive car in Australia)

Noise was very clearly (to me) coming from the door, googled it, read forums... end up convinced it was the door.

Took the car to the Skoda garage and they found the problem to be in the fuel lines that go under the drivers side, under that car, noise would feel it was from the door but it was not, rattlings can be literally anything, so many different issues can cause a rattling.

Thumbs up to Richmond Skoda in Melbourne for finding the problem and fixing it at first look :) (changed some seals), it was driving me nuts.

Something is rattling in my roof around eyeglasses area for ages (at least the sound is coming from there in my ears), but I havent been able to find the culprit ever. No sunglasses, I tried holding everything while it rattles, its not the sunglasses cup holder, not the light switches, might be something coming from elsewhere..

Thread from the dead...

Having the same issue. It sounds like the roof or roof lining is creaking and cracking. Like heavy rain is hitting it. Only seems to show up when car is warmed up. Could be cables or plastic creaking? Cold and wet weather is here in UK.

Driving me nuts. Already had car in once for drivers door rattle which was fixed by refitting the door slam.

Also have slight vibration buzz on passengers side. Never had these issues with my MK2 VRS!

My VRS 245 DSG hatch is making an intermittent 'rattle' which actually sounds more like something mechanical wobbling - almost like the exhaust making slight burbles/pops. I know the sound unfortunately isn't a fruity exhaust but it's a little disconcerting. It appears at low revs when coming off the gas at low speed - usually I think when the car is cold but I'm not 100% sure about that from memory.

Anyone else experienced similar?

I have recently solved a little issue where I was getting a knocking noise on some uneven road surfaces, which I initially thought was suspension related. I eventually realised that in-fact the nearside exhaust pipe was sometimes banging on the dummy pipe. Further investigation show the bracket/rubber exhaust hanger that side wasn't connected at the body end! I found that the bolt was missing from the bracket.

When the car was new I'd complained that the two tail pipes were misaligned and the dealer had rectified this, but i suspect that they didn't re-tighten the bolt on that side after adjustment and it had eventually wound itself out and disappeared.

I found a suitable bolt, tightened it all up and not only has the knocking noise gone the car is generally a lot quieter so i imagine the bracket was also vibrating on the body-shell causing general background noise which would be very difficult to pin point where it was coming from.

Interesting. I'll check my exhaust too then as it might be something like that which is causing the noise I mentioned in my post above.

I have the same problem, but its not the fuel lines, I have checked that. Probably something in the doors or similar...

Mine buzzing is getting worse! Any tips/guides to remvoing plastics around mirror?

i used a very thin blade (from a victorinox swiss army credit card thing) to pop the tabs and remove the access panel and put some foam around the wires to stop the buzzing - worked a treat!

and another vrs with rattles. '16 model something rattling at the back, dealer diagnosed the seat back clip needed adjusting. They charged skoda 3 hours for that....

Well after 2 days at Skoda my car is back and they've done nothing!

They couldn't hear roof console creaking and cracking......so now I have to book in again so I can go out with technician. Great more time off work.

They could hear buzzing from passenger door but because I've fitted car cameras, so have removed "panels" and added cables, I have to remove everything to rule it out as the cause. Really?! Do they not think I already checked this myself.
