VCDS on Fabia Monte Carlo III

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

New to the forum so bare with me!

I have just purchased a skoda Fabia Monte Carlo that will arrive in 10-12 weeks (longest 3 months of my life)

I have been reading up on VCDS configuration and it has got me wondering.

Does anyone know of all VCDS tweaks that can be done by my dealer free of charge?

Obviously the cornering lights are done via VCDS but that's an optional extra. I may in future invest in a EML and do it through carista but would like to save myself some time. If I do the VCDS myself does it void any warranties or guarantees?

Thanks in Advanced!

Dout very much the dealer will do them for free.

On my Octavia, Cornering Fogs is a Cost option from the factory as is High Beam Assist ( £300 I think)  both can be activated with a VCDS

You need a friendly member with a VCDS to sort them for you.

Beer Tokens is a recommended method of payment.

I am due a new monte at the start of September and I am hoping the dealer will activate things such as the anti hijack feature, needle sweep etc!

I had the anti-hijack thing enabled at the dealer for free. Don't know about the needle sweep though.

I had the anti-hijack put on because it kept confusing everyone I picked up. The boot would be locked but the doors wouldn't be. So I'd have to lock the car with the dash button and then unlock it again so they can open the boot. Seemed a bit silly to me.

Mine's arriving in the next few weeks too. What's the anti-hijack feature? Is this linked to automatic locking when you drive off?

Also out of curiosity, how come these things have to be 'enabled' (thinking for example the needle sweep) and don't just come pre-enabled? My current car has needle sweep and the Octavia we also have had needle sweep... We didn't need to ask for them to be enabled etc...

Yeah, once you get above 10mph all the doors will lock. I don't think it's on by default, at least mine wasn't.

Weird! Might ask for it to be done... I quite like that feature on my current car.

You can enable/disable the auto locking door on Bolero.

Where is the option located? I remember looking to see if it was option before I had the dealer enable it and I couldn't find it.

Umm, I remember that it was hard to find. I think there was something like "door settings" in the menu. I will check it out and report back when I get to my car. That is later today or tomorrow. :)

Ok, so I spoke to my dealer today and asked for the following.

  • Fogs to be used for coming/ going home feature
  • Dial Staging
  • auto unlock when ignition off
  • window open/ close with key fob
  • alarm chirp with lock/ unlock
  • anti-hijack (locks over 10mph)

The dealer came back to me and told me the only two they are able to do is the window open/ close with fob and anti-hijack. Alarm Chirp can apparently be done through the car media system but is only recommended for Europe (WTF?)

They had no idea what dial staging was, told me only the dipped beams can be used for the going/ coming home feature and the auto unlock the ignition off is also a non existent.

Guess I'll have to buy an EML and use Carista when I get the car!

I'm surprised they're able to do the windows because I'd heard that this was impossible to do due to the hardware in the doors. Be good to hear if they follow through with that. Can understand the bit about the fogs though...

the alarm chirp is done via media system as daughter did this herself

Can also confirm alarm churb is though the unit in car. Mine came with it off and a mates with it on.

Would you be able to report back to us about the ability to control window with fob, please. Would be amazing on a hot day!

Anyone confirm or deny anti hijack is operable from bolero menus? Also anyone any further with needle sweep?

My anti hijack was set up by my dealer, although it says in the handbook you can set it from the Bolero mine doesn't have the option same as the closing/opening chirp again no option although it should, there are a lot of thing missing from the UK model - auto lights sensitivity/anti hijack/locking chirp etc.  not sure why in Europe they have it and we don't?

I will point out its very unlikely any dealer will be changing any options with VCDS (they don't use it). The dealer diagnostic tool will only allow certain options to be enabled and if it's not on the system mask that Skoda supply they can't do it.

So are these VCDS enabled options safe? I presume they are if so how would I go about finding someone with a VCDS system near to me (Sittingbourne, Kent) to get these options enabled, I asked my dealer Monday to enable the voice control as I've read it is possible to do as I have the button on the steering wheel and it is connected to something as the MFD says ''Voice control unavailable'' when i press it and the Mic is there for the bluetooth but they said they cannot do it unless it was specified from factory?

I would also like the Chirp on locking/unlocking + the cornering foglight function + my light sensitivity turned down as it comes on too early

Any advice appreciated

The VCDS map will tell you who is local with VCDS.

Excuse my ignorance but where would i find the VCDS map?

It's pinned in the Fabia MkIII area of this forum.

I recently had my Dial Staging and Anti-Hijack feature done by a fellow member using VCDS.

Dial Staging was easy, but the Anti-Hijack options where in german, so it took some translating and checking before we got it working.

Please let us know about the key-fob window control, that would be sweet if it works.

Regards,

R

Auto boot locking, initially I thought that that was a weird feature, but it does improve security.  I only stumbled on it when stopped by security at work on the way in for a check while driving daughter's late 2009 Ibiza, eventually I opened the driver's door and I think that disables it - as well as ignition key out or "unlock" button, just a bit annoying when you don't have time to think!!  I see my car and wife's new Polo also have that "feature" - still annoys wife a lot when I pick her up from shopping and she is "covered" in shopping!!!

It will only appear on the menu after it has been programmed in correctly, there are two ways to program it in, first method is to just have that as the default setting - so no menu option, the second and better way to do it is to include that option in the displayed menu option so that you have a choice.
