Is it possible to retrofit some interior options?

Featured Replies

We've just received our new Superb. Absolutely love it but there's one thing that bothers me slightly. Rather than waiting on a new order, we went with a car that was in stock, so we didn't get to spec everything exactly as we might have wanted. It seems like the car were got was specced with the smokers package. It's got a cigarette lighter and an ashtray, front and rear. This seems to be in place of the phone compartment in the front, and the 230V power outlet and extra USB port in the back.

Does anybody know if it's possible to change this retrospectively? There will certainly never be any smoking in the car, and we'd much rather have the extra power options in the back, and the handy phone pocket up front.

Don't know about vehicles for Ireland but the 230v Power Outlet is not available in UK specification vehicles.

It would be very expensive, if at all possible to retrofit. These packages are offered at a low percentage of their true replacement value. Considering that the car uses CANBus system, it also would require re-programming to add the additional USB and power ports.

Even if your dealer would attempt such a conversion, I don't think you will like the price when they tell you.

I would remove the ashtray and get the plastic insert for the phone which will not require any electric hardware

In the rear.. I have a 12v socket and a ashtray.

I use a 12v to 2x usb port adapter front and rear to give me more charging options

Yeah, I will get a couple of those 12V to USB chargers. Do you know if the plastic insert for the phone is an accessory that you can buy and just fit yourself?

Not sure on the second question..

haven't used 220v socket yet, selected it just because it came in 4 in 1 package by just 110€ -

"FOND PACKAGE"(PKL): Sunset(Rear privacy glass); rear 230v; rear 12v; iPhone/iPad holder

built in USB sockets can't charge devices which demand 2A, like Note 4 5.7" or Tab S 10"

this will work while phone + Waze beats built in Columbus Nav and Android Auto + Google Map

It will not be an accessory but there is no reason why you cannot retro-fit one, connecting it up to the aerial (so you get the slightly enhanced phone reception) may be a bit harder though.

Phonebox is useless - it maybe improve GSM signal reception, but doesn't help on receive LTE and GPS

(Columbus without SIM slot)
