sexist remark but......

Had a faulty coil once. My friend with VAG Com didn't catch the error, as the car didn't have any, but it was working like crap. So I took the bull by the horns and went to Skoda, thinking they have more tech and stuff to figure it out.

I was 99% sure it was the coil. Also changed the plugs with NGKs a little while ago. So the mechanic tested with his tools and what not and came to the conclusion that I must changed the plugs before he can continue the recon. I was baffled... The plugs were almost new. I asked for the price and ofc it was thru the roof, double the NGKs. I said ok, change them and said "by this logic you will change the whole engine before figuring out the issue". Had to leave, but before I left I told the guy at the desk it's the coils and he said np, we have some OEMs that are more expensive than the car and some cheapos. He called me after a few hours and he said "it's the coil" so I asked for the cheapo( I was going to buy R8 coils soon). He said they don't have them and I have to wait 2 days for the delivery. I hung up on him :)))

In the end, I paid the full price for that coil, got new plugs that I didn't need, all because I said "lets leave it to the professionals". NEVER again.

Ow and they quoted me 8000 Euros for 2.0 TSI block. JUST the block, no internals and stuff. GTFO u srs?

Ford is no different. Ordered a Mustang and they delivered it with the IC dented and a scratch on the bumper. Changed the springs with Eibach and went for allignment, got appointment at 1400, had to wait 1 more hour for the car to be taken inside. Paid double than a regular shop and the car was pulling to the right.

I trust a regular car shop that NEEDS you as a customer, thus treating you good, than a dealership that treats you like a nobody.

As a side note, a friend got a Merc S63 Coupe. He went for an oil change and ordered Motul. The guy there told him his car will get damaged by that oil and made him sign a statement that in case something happens, it's his fault. Brabus uses Motul........... I'm curious if you got a McLaren or Lambo, how are the mechanics :)))

I bought a NEW (then) Citroen relay

after 15,000 miles it developed a ball joint-type knock, which i ignored till it went in for service (non-dealer HGV workshop) who rang me to tell me i needed to come see this...

this was at 50,000 miles BTW, the van was up on the jacks and with a big steel bar the mechanic lifted the front O/S wheel and it was all good...

The N/S wheel - when lifted by the bar went up/down/up/down as if it was loose, in fact it was loose, the strut top bearing had disintegrated!

The interesting bit is that the main dealers had the gearbox out 2 weeks before and they must have jacked it up as the gearbox was on the N/S so they hadnt noticed the loose excess travel of a front strut that wasnt restrained by the strut top bearing?

Citroen had no strut top bearings in the UK, nor wheel bearings when 1 went....(3 day job to change a bearing)
