With mine I could not see any advantage by moving the battery so I didn't bother.

Different engine sizes would/could have a different size battery.

eg:- With stop/start and/or the Diesel engine I would expect it to be bigger.

If you remove a battery from your car then:-

Always disconnect black - Negative first and red + Positive second.

I could try and take a photo of the wooden tool.

Might have to patent it if there is too much interest. :)

Thanks AG Falco

Take a look at powerbulbs website, I've fitted  Phillips X-treme vision 130 H7 bulbs replacing the std bulbs in my other car and they are so much better. The kerb side beam is much brighter and projec

Still really pleased with the new lights driven home in the dark and rain and its definitely better than the original lights Joe

^ Same here.

What did it for me is a corner at the bottom of a steep dip.

The first time going along in the Fabia I dipped the lights and found I could only see 20 feet in front of the car.

I am glad that I knew the road well.

With both the new bulbs and the realignment of the angle/height they now work well.

Thanks AG Falco.

Had a similar problem passing a wide T junction that goes off to the left on my way home. I am travelling on the main road with no road markings in the dark and no street lighting and it's on a bend. First time I came home in the dark I nearly ran off the road as I could not see the far curbe with the old bulbs until I was almost on top of it and no white line to follow the curve of the road (felt like crossing no man's land) now the far curbe is safely illuminated Joe

I read this thread from the OP onwards and bought 2 pairs of H7 to do the job.

I had a tiny go until I quickly realised the actual meaning of what had been said by others in missing skin terms. My selling dealer wanted £75 to do it with the bumper off, a second wouldn't do it at all unless they supplied the bulbs and the third had to look it up but then thought £45 would cover it, but I'd have to wait 2 weeks for a waiting appointment.

Halfords to the rescue! £28 without waiting, suddenly sounded pretty good. Poor chap thought he'd only be about 5 minutes and had a VAG Group car himself. How wrong he was! Dave (written on his toolbox) at Halfords in Doncaster hadn't "done" a Fabia 3 before but he took one or two for the team and left his DNA on the car for the experience, but hats off, took about 25 mins to do all 4, near side took him over 15 minutes.

I said it was a bargain! He agreed as he dripped the claret on the floor.

Makes you wonder when they design cars if any thought is given to ease of replacing consumerable parts. Has anyone replaced any bulbs from the rear light cluster if you have how easy was it Joe

Absolute pain

Undo two screws

Use the little hook for wheel trims

Small hole on lamp

Place hook in there

And lift and pull out or pull down and depending on which side you are doing

You then need to wiggle the lamp free of its spring while not bashing it into the rear quarter panel

The loom for the light is very short allowing just enough movement to get the clip off the plug

To make matters worse for me I fitted Cree reverse lights only to find they threw an error code

So it was all in vain

Turns out there is a coding for vcds

So I'll get round to it again at some point

Mostly squeaky clean young engineers let loose on Autocad, Joe. Producing cool 3D drawings on screen. Metal and plastic origami.

Not a grimy hand in sight, not a dirty fingernail, from learning first principles whilst rubbing a chin along an oily sump!!

Mind you - even pre-Autocad - there were motors out there that had some quirky service "needs". Remember one was the Renault 18 needing the engine moved to replace the starter motor !

Well .. that's a whole other thread!

Thanks for that malcster. Some day, we might get all these "How-to" bits together in one thread.

Love the idea of a How-to thread.

I wondered if the Haynes manual publishers might eventually put out a Mk111 manual had one for my old Mk1 1.9 pdi diesel but did not find the black and white photographs particularly easy to understand anyway getting too old and knees knackered to do much on the car these days. Had a Citron 2cv at one time, you had to take the drive shafts off to replace the inboard break pads fun days :) now its all electronics.
